The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper Rishabh Pant had a nightmarish outing with the bat in his debut game for his new franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Rishabh Pant failed to trouble the scorers in the fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between DC and LSG at the Dr. YSR Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, on Monday, March 24.

Rishabh Pant bags a 6-ball duck

Pant was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for a record-breaking ₹27 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah and he became the most expensive player in IPL history.

The likes of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Delhi Capitals also went hard for Pant, but in the end, it was Lucknow Super Giants who managed to rope in his services.

Pant would've been hoping to start his journey with Lucknow Super Giants on a high, but that didn't happen as he bagged a 6-ball duck.

He was dismissed on the fourth ball of the 14th over by Kuldeep Yadav as he hit the ball in the hands of Faf du Plessis. After getting out, Pant looked quite dejected and walked back to the dressing room with his head down.

Overall, Pant has a poor record against Kuldeep in IPL as he has been dismissed 3 times in 5 innings and has scored just 23 runs in 23 balls.

Here's how fans reacted to the failure of Rishabh Pant on his LSG debut:

The fans of LSG slammed Pant for his flop show, with some even claiming that he is still playing for the Delhi Capitals.

If I'm managing Rishabh Pant, I want him facing as many of those 120 balls - Michael Vaughan

Speaking on Cricbuzz ahead of the DC vs LSG match, Michael Vaughan said that he would want Pant to bat in the top order and play as many balls as possible. He was also excited to see the partnership between Justin Langer and Pant. He said:

"I'm looking at Rishabh Pant, Justin Langer, very, very intense Justin Langer that was so driven, determined, maximized every ounce of what he got given. Then you've got Rishabh, who just looks like a carefree cricketer and just gives it a good old Yahoo. That could work.

"Justin Langer's been a brilliant coach. He did so well for Australia. He'll have them playing in a very strategic way. He'll have them, he will look at the data, he'll look at all the information. But within that, he'll want the likes of Rishabh Pant to go out and just express his talents. I would think he'll probably bat him higher up the order

"(Will he open) No, I don't think so. Maybe three. If I'm managing Rishabh Pant, I want him facing as many of those 120 balls as possible. He's got the ability to get me three figures. So I don't want him coming down the back end just to get a cameo 40 or 50."
