1. Naveen-ul-Haq
The Afghan fast bowler might not have found takers in the IPL 2025 auction, but he has the chance of making a comeback in the league as Mitchell Starc's replacement, whose availability is in doubt for the remaining games.
Naveen, who was a part of the Lucknow Super Giants for a couple of seasons, was not able to attract any bids despite giving a decent performance in the 16th edition of the league in 2023.
The fast bowler picked up 11 wickets in 7 games at an economy of 7.82 and can bowl in all phases of the innings.
Naveen appears to be an intelligent bowler who can change his lengths according to the need of the surface and might be useful on a sluggish wicket in Delhi.
2. Alzarri Joseph
Alzarri Joseph can come in as a potential replacement for Mitchell Starc. Although the fast bowler has a PSL deal under his belt with uncertainty over the resumption of the league, Joseph might prefer to play in the IPL.
Alzarri has played a few seasons of IPL and has a rich vein of international experience given the fact that he is the spearhead of the West Indies bowling attack in limited-overs cricket.
Alzarri's inclusion would also deepen DC's batting order as the fast bowler can swing his willow and hit a few lusty blows, which can prove to be handy at the end of a game.
All things said, Alzarri's economy has been on the higher side in the 22 IPL matches that he has featured in so far.
3. Jason Behrendoff
The Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff can be a like-for-like replacement for Mitchell Starc, who has the experience of playing in the IPL. The tall, fast bowler has played for a few teams in the IPL.
If Behrendoff is signed as a replacement for the remainder of the IPL season, he can take the new ball for DC like Starc does and can also extract extra bounce from the wicket due to his height.
Having said that, the DC management would hope for him to remain injury-free, as he has been on the wrong side of the fence on various occasions in the past. As a result, Behrendoff has fallen behind in the packing order.
If we talk about Behrendoff's record in IPL, the left-arm fast bowler has played 17 games in the league and has picked up 19 wickets at a slightly high economy of 9.05 with a best of 3/23.
Behredoff made his IPL debut against the Chennai Super Kings in 2019 and played his last game against the Gujarat Titans in 2023.
