The change in captaincy has worked well for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they won their first game against the Sunrisers and they will take on Mumbai in their next fixture. Eoin Morgan led the team brilliantly and his bowling changes along with the team selection proved to be perfect.

Andre Russell:
Russell did not have the best of outings with the bat in the first game against SRH but backed it up with a fine display of bowling in the end. He came around the wicket and hit the blockhole hard and the batsmen did could not get underneath the delivery. Russell’s figures may not showcase how good he was in the death.
He conceded 32 runs in his three overs and picked up an important wicket at the death when Vijay Shankar was looking to explode. Russell could only five runs in his innings and was dismissed to a superb catch in the long-on region from Manish Pandey.
He is due in for some more runs and he has done well against the Mumbai Indians in the past. If he can stay in the crease for some more time, he can be a game-changer with the bat too.
Dinesh Karthik:
Dinesh Karthik looked in good touch in the first game and he gave the finishing touches to the good start from the KKR openers. He can be a vital cog in this Kolkata Knight Riders lineup considering that he partners well with captain Eoin Morgan and also provides a good option in the middle order.
The experienced wicket-keeper scored 22 of just 9 deliveries with two fours and one six in his innings and he could have been useful if he had come earlier to the crease.

The mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy bowled a good spell in the first game against the Sunrisers but he can still be destructive as we have seen in the last edition. He bowled his four overs giving 36 runs at an economy rate of 9 and he will look to improve on that in the upcoming game against Mumbai Indians.
Varun Chakravarthy missed the opportunity to represent the country after failing the fitness tests and he will be looking to make a statement in this IPL to get back in the reckonings. He will be up against a full-strength Mumbai Indians team that has got a lot of stars in the batting lineup.
