The IPL 2021 has been indefinitely suspended by the BCCI following a number of players inside the bio bubble testing positive for Covid-19 which looks to be the right decision now. India is one of the worst affected nations and the daily new cases in the last week have been around 3.5 lakh cases at an average. This even opened up a petition to be filed against BCCI for running the tournament despite all the crisis and BCCI had to act quickly.

The overseas players have been taking a big risk by staying in the nation as the other countries have started to ban the passengers coming from India. As many as five players had pulled out of the IPL after seeing the condition of the country and it was hard for the franchises to keep replacing players. With all the teams having played a minimum of 7 games in the IPL 2021, here are 3 teams that have been benefitted from IPL 2021 suspension.

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

Sunrisers Hyderabad did not have the best of times in this IPL, and they even looked like being the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs race. They were lying at the bottom of the table at the midway of the tournament and did not gain any momentum until the tournament was called off. Their poor form urged the management to change the captaincy from David Warner to Kane Williamson which was a very tough call.

Sunrisers Hyderabad played 7 games and won just one game while losing six of the games. They decided to drop Warner in their last game against Rajasthan Royals and it proved to be a disaster for them as they were outplayed in all the departments. They lost the services of T Natrajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar wasn’t at his best by any means. The middle-order struggled and they dropped their best Indian talent, Manish Pandey, after his poor form. Their decisions were questionable and it was a season to forget for them so far.

Rajasthan Royals:

Rajasthan Royals just started to find their feet in the tournament but they still did not look like winning against any of the top four teams as they had very limited sources in the team. Sanju Samson, the new skipper did a decent job with the players available and he would have hoped for Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer to be available which would have made a big difference. However, the Royals would have been happy that the tournament was suspended.

Royals played seven games and won three games while losing four games. Chris Morris won two matches single-handedly for the franchise while Samson stepped in at times. Miller and Buttler did show off their prowess with the bat while Sakariya and Kartik Tyagi are good future prospects.

Andrew Tye and Liam Livingstone pulled out of the IPL after the situation in the country and the Royals had to play all their remaining four overseas players who were the only available. The Royals were lying in the fifth position in the standings.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

Despite having all the match-winners on the side, Kolkata Knight Riders looked the most disappointing side as they could not finish off games and win the big moments. They were outplayed in few games but they had all the talent in the box which couldn’t gel together at the right time. Morgan hasn’t been very effective in IPL which KKR should take notice of and look to change things around in the next season.

Cummins and Russell came to the party at times but the Indian contingent should step up for them. Shubman Gill’s struggles at the top did not help the franchise and Nitish Rana faded off after starting well. Dinesh Karthik hasn’t faced many balls but looked in good touch and Varun Chakravarthy was their standout bowler. They were lying at the seventh position in the table with two wins and five losses and did not look like making the playoffs.
