India has a list of youngsters that have done well in the IPL as captain as well as for their state teams in the domestic tournament which will help them to lead the country in the future. Captaincy is not an easy task and some of the players are born to be captains by their general nature. Sourav Ganguly was one such captain from the past for India.

Rohit Sharma should have captained India a lot more than he actually did, as he is part of Virat Kohli’s era. Prithvi Shaw has been in outstanding form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy recently, and he broke a lot of records with the best being his knock of 227 not out which was the highest individual score in the tournament history. His consistent run of form with the bat will surely be considered and he is expected to break into the Indian ODI side soon.

Prithvi Shaw has already captained his Under 19 team under the guidance of Rahul Dravid in 2018 and won the trophy. He also led Mumbai to victory through excellent individual performances and proved to very effective with his captaincy stint. It will only be a matter of time since he becomes a regular in the Indian ODI team and he can surely be a contender to lead the team after the 2023 world cup.

Shubman Gill has become a regular in the test cricket for India and he will surely be in the reckonings to settle into the ODI squad too. He has impressed in the limited opportunities he has got so far and has got the backing of the skipper too. He plays an important role for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL as an opener.

Shubman Gill has come his way up through the ranks with a lot of big scores and he is a big match player. He has stunning numbers in first-class cricket and is deemed to be the next big thing in Indian cricket. He was first seen playing for the India U-19 side in the 2018 Worldcup that featured Prithvi Shaw and finished as the top scorer for India in the tournament. Probably, the most likely option for the captain of India would be Shreyas Iyer due to his impressive captaincy stint so far in the IPL for the Delhi Capitals and he would have gained a lot more experience in the next two years ahead of WorldCup 2023. Shreyas Iyer has made the number four position his own and has been in very good form in recent times.

Shreyas Iyer has led the Delhi Capitals to playoffs in 2019 and 2020 and has been very successful so far once he has taken over the reins. He is an excellent player of spin and he has matured a lot with his batting approach in different situations.
