Kagiso Rabada would have been RCB's biggest threat in that Gujarat Titans bowling order, especially within the powerplay. Rabada has had a season where he has now completed 20 wickets just within the powerplay overs.
Virat Kohli, on the other hand, remains the master of run chases, and with not so many runs on the cards, the chasemaster would emerge as the most valuable wicket. However, Kohli seemingly loves challenges, and he tackled Rabada with some authority.
In his second over of the spell, Kohli went for an all-out attack mode against Rabada, hitting him for three boundaries in the over. Two fours and a six from Virat Kohli gave RCB just the momentum they needed early into the game.
Kagiso Rabada strikes back with his third over, but Kohli onslaugh continues
Virat has been in excellent touch against the Gujarat Titans this season, as he has knocked off excellent starts against this opposition and has been in very dominant form until now. He has made an absolute mockery of the matchup against Kagiso Rabada.
However, Rabada has been threatening within the powerplay with the new ball. He returned with a third over despite his 37 runs off the first two and dismissed Devdutt Padikkal, which elevated him to the top of the wicket-taking tally with 29 wickets.
This would be Rabada's second-best season with the ball in the history of the IPL, second to a former season where he had 30 scalps to his name while playing for the Delhi Capitals. However, the Kohli onslaught continued as he hit him for a six off the final ball of the third over as well.
Virat Kohli finishes another strong IPL season with 600+ runs
Another spectacular season for Virat Kohli. The 37-year-old star has retired from the shortest format of the game internationally, but still continues to be at the top of his game in the format in the IPL.
He has aced his stats, as Kohli has gone past another 600+ runs in this season of the IPL. He still remains RCB's highest run-scorer for the season, with Rajat Patidar, the skipper, being the second highest with 501 runs in the season.
Virat is now nearing the next massive landmark in the IPL, as he is aiming to become the first T20 player in the world to have scored over 10,000 runs in a single T20 franchise competition, that too, on a highly competitive stage like the IPL.
