ODI Cricket was at a boom during 2023 and a lot of runs were scored in the year by batters across the globe.

However, the Indians have dominated the chart in the top-five run-getters in the 50-over format as there are three Indian batters in the top five charts for the most runs scored in 2023. They also dominated the World Cup list as the top two run-getters in the ODI World Cup were Indians.

5 Batsmen With Most Runs In ODIs In 2023

1. Shubman Gill:

The year 2023 belonged to Shubman Gill, especially in the 50-over format as he amassed 1584 runs in 29 matches at an average of 63.36. He smashed nine half-centuries and five centuries this year which also includes a massive innings of 208 which he played in Hyderabad against New Zealand. Shubman Gill became the No.1 ODI batter at the end of the year 2023 and was at his best in the longer white-ball format.

2. Virat Kohli:

The comeback of ‘King Kohli’ was one of the highlights of 2023. Virat started the year with a bang in the 50-over format where he scored two centuries against Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series in January 2023. He has amassed 1377 runs at an average of 72.47 in just 24 innings. Virat Kohli was the leading run-getter in the ODI World Cup with 765 runs to his name in the tournament this year. He smashed eight half-centuries and six centuries in ODIs in 2023.

3. Rohit Sharma:

The Indian skipper may have not hit as many fifty-plus scores this year but the impact he had as an attacking opener was just immense. Rohit Sharma scored 1255 runs in 26 innings this year and had an average of 52.29. He was second to Virat Kohli in the World Cup run-getters list as he accumulated 597 runs in 11 matches. Rohit smashed nine half-centuries and two centuries in 2023. He also became the player with the most centuries in World Cup cricket with seven centuries to his name.

4. Daryl Mitchell:

New Zealand’s No.4 has had an amazing 2023 with the bat, especially in the ODIs and he was at his personal best for the Blackcaps during the World Cup 2023. Daryl Mitchell accumulated 1204 runs in 25 innings in the 50-over format in 2023 with an average of 52.35. He smashed more centuries than half-centuries in 2023 and was the torchbearer of the New Zealand batting in the absence of Kane Williamson. Daryl Mitchell smashed five centuries and three half-centuries in 2023.

5. Pathum Nissanka:

The Sri Lankan opener is fifth in the top run-getters list in ODIs in 2023. He smashed 1151 runs in 29 innings with an average of 44.27. He smashed nine half-centuries and two centuries in 2023 and is Sri Lanka’s only addition to the top-five list. His two centuries in 2023 came in the ICC Cricket World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and West Indies respectively.
