Former Indian cricketer MS Dhoni is definitely one of the best players Indian cricket has witnessed. He is unarguably the most successful Indian skipper so far, bagging many prominent titles under his leadership. The wicket-keeper batsman is the only captain to win all the three major ICC trophies- ODI World Cup in 2011, T20I World Cup in 2007, and Champions Trophy in 2013.

Dhoni played his first-ever international match in December 2004 which was an ODI game against Bangladesh and retired from international cricket in 2019.

As a skipper, MS Dhoni has led Indian team to 178 victories in international cricket out of 332 games. Under MSD’s captainship, India won 41 Test matches out of 72, 110 ODI matches out of 200, and 27 T20I games out of 60. Along with being a spectacular skipper, MS was also a brilliant batsman for India.

MS Dhoni holds the 5th spot in the list of batsmen with most sixes in ODIs. The former Indian skipper smashed 229 sixes in his ODI career. He also accounted for 826 fours in ODIs. Dhoni played 350 ODIs in his career from 2004 to 2019. He scored 10,773 runs in 297 innings at an average of 5.57. He also had a decent strike rate of 87.56. He also smacked 10 centuries and 73 half-centuries in ODIs.

In the list of highest Test knocks by wicketkeepers in Tests, MS  holds the 3rd spot. He smashed 224 runs off 265 balls in a Test match against Australia in February 2013. The match was played in Chennai. The wicketkeeper-batsman smashed 24 fours and 6 sixes during his knock. The Indian player mustered 4876 runs in 144 Test innings with 6 centuries and 33 half-centuries. He had an average of 38.09 in Tests.

3. Third Highest ODI Knock While Batting At No.6 (139*)

MS Dhoni also holds the record for the third-highest ODI knock while batting at no.6 batting position. The Indian wicket-keeper scored unbeaten 139 runs off 121 balls in an ODI match against Australia in October 2013. The match took place at Mohali in India. In spite of Dhoni’s fabulous knock at the lower order, India lost the match by 4 wickets to Australia.

2. Most Consecutive Innings Without A Duck In T20Is (84)

Mahendra Singh Dhoni holds the top spot in the list of most consecutive T20I innings without a duck. The wicketkeeper did not face a duck in consecutive 84 innings in T20Is from September 14, 2007 to February 27, 2019.

Moreover, he was gone for a duck in only 1 game during his T20I career. In 85 innings in T20Is, Dhoni scored 1617 runs at an average of 37.60 and a strike rate of 126.13. The former Indian skipper also smashed 2 fifties in T20Is with the highest knock of 56.

MS Dhoni’s highest knock in ODI is unbeaten 183 runs. This is also the highest knock by a wicketkeeper in ODIs. The Indian wicketkeeper smashed unbeaten 183 runs off 145 deliveries in an ODI match against Sri Lanka in October 2005. He smacked 15 fours and 10 sixes during his astonishing knock. With Dhoni’s 183 runs, India successfully chased down the 299-run target set by Sri Lanka and won the match by 6 wickets.
