Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has humorously urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to correct his birth date in their records. Basit Ali stated that he has been receiving birthday wishes from the Pakistan Cricket Board on December 13th, but his actual birthday is on December 23rd.
Basit did not fully live up to his potential in international cricket. He played 19 Tests and 50 ODIs in the 1990s. He scored 858 runs in Tests at an average of 26.81, with one century and five half-centuries. The former batter scored 1265 runs in ODIs at an average of 34.18, with one century and nine fifties.
The former right-handed batter scored over 8000 runs, including 21 centuries and 43 half-centuries in first-class cricket and more than 4000 in List-A games. Basit recently gained attention through his official YouTube channel, where he shares his insights on recent developments in world cricket.
PCB Ko Paanch Saalon Se Yeh Baat Mai Samjha Raha Hoon - Basit Ali
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Basit Ali pointed out that his birthday is on December 23, not the 13th, as listed in the records of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Basit stated that his birth date remains incorrect in their records despite repeatedly informing the PCB over the years.
"Basit Ali ki birthday terah tareekh ko nahi hoti, 23rd ko hoti hai (my birthday is not on 13th, but on 23rd)," Basit said.
"PCB ko paanch saalon se yeh baat mai samjha raha hu, unki samajh mei nahi aa raha. Itne messages aa rahe hai. Bhai jaan, maaf kar do mujhe (I have been telling the PCB for five years but they don't understand; I am getting so many messages. Please spare me). My birthday is 23rd December, not 13th December," said Basit in his appeal.
Everybody Got to Know That It Is Going to Be a Hybrid Model - Basit Ali
Basit said that a deal has been made between the ICC, BCCI, and the broadcaster regarding the hybrid model for future tournaments. He said that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi agreed to this model, with the condition that it would apply to the 2026 ICC event (T20 World Cup) in India.
"Everybody got to know that it is going to be a hybrid model, which was also agreed upon by PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, but with the condition that the same model will be in force for the 2026 ICC event (T20 World Cup) in India," Basit said in his video.
This Is a Lollipop ICC Is Giving to PCB - Basit Ali
Basit criticized the deal, calling it a "lollipop" from the ICC to the PCB, adding that the agreement would not bring any substantial benefit to Pakistan.
"This is a lollipop ICC is giving to PCB -- that you agree to this, don't ask for anything in writing, and we will give you another ICC event," he added.
