Sri Lanka managed to win a bilateral series against India after almost 8 years and this would be a great boost to them ahead of the T20 Worldcup coming up in October. India did not have the best of times with a lot of players not being available with Covid-19 protocols and the Sri Lanka team took full advantage of it.
The hosts had a perfect spin attack to destroy the Indian batting lineup and they are looking to build a strong core for the upcoming years. With a note on that, here are 5 Sri Lankan players who might cause a bidding war in IPL 2022 Mega auction.
5 Sri Lankan Players Who Might Cause A Bidding War In IPL 2022 Mega Auction:
Wanindu Hasaranga:

Wanindu Hasaranga bagged the man of the series award in the T20 series and he proved to be the game-changer for Sri Lanka. The number two ranked bowler in ICC T20 international rankings bowled a brilliant spell in the final T20 picking up four wickets and restricted India to an under-par score.
Hasaranga is also regarded as a good finisher down the order and he can certainly make a big difference to the side in the middle order. He is one of the top contenders to cause a bidding war in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
Charith Asalanka:

Charith Asalanka looked the best batsman out of the lot from the Sri Lankan lineup and he played an excellent hand in the first T20 as well. The left-hander helped the hosts get out of difficult positions more than once and looked very comfortable on the crease.
Asalanka has played just 5 One day internationals so far, but he looks well for the international stages and he is strongly built enough to clear the fences easily. He can be a great option in the middle order for the franchises in the IPL.
Dushmantha Chameera:

Dushmantha Chameera had all the pace in his armory and he looks fit and raring to go. The right-arm pacer bowled a great spell in the second T20 international conceding just 23 runs in his four overs spell. He bowled another great spell in the third T20 international well conceding just 16 runs and also picked up the important wicket of Shikhar Dhawan.
Chameera had already been picked up by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL previously but he was injured and hasn’t yet played in the IPL. He will certainly be under the radar of the franchises in this mega auction 2022 with his extraordinary skills.
Chamika Karunaratne:

Chamika Karunaratne was one of the consistent performers in the ODI series as well as in the T20 series. He contributed with both bat and the ball and played some important innings which helped Sri Lanka get back on track. He was very impressive and showed a lot of fight within himself.
Karunaratne bowled good lines and length throughout the series and he did not bowl any loose balls which helped his team to a great extent. His six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the penultimate over in the second T20 international was crucial to Sri Lanka winning the series.
Dhananjaya De Silva:
He can also bowl some good overs in the middle with his off-spin option and can prove to be an ideal choice for the IPL franchise in the middle order. Certainly, the franchises in the IPl will have an eye on him in the upcoming mega auction.
