Out-of-favor Australia opener Chris Lynn delivered an impressive batting display in the Vitality Blast 2025 semi-final on Saturday, September 13, at Edgbaston. The batter hammered five consecutive sixes in a single over during Hampshire Hawks' commanding six-wicket (DLS) win over Northamptonshire.
Northamptonshire had scored 158/7 in 18 overs, and the target was adjusted to 155 for Hampshire via the DLS method. The run chase turned one-sided as Chris Lynn tore through the opposition bowling, helping Hampshire secure victory in just 15.4 overs with seven wickets in hand to reach the summit clash.

Hampshire needed 38 runs from the last four overs when Chris Lynn decided to take charge against Northamptonshire leg-spinner Lloyd Pope. The match seemed evenly balanced at that stage, but Lynn shifted the momentum in Hampshire’s favor.
Lynn smashed five balls in a row off Pope’s bowling. He also brought up his century with the fourth six of the over, reaching the landmark from just 49 deliveries. The crowd at Edgbaston erupted with excitement as his explosive hitting left only eight runs required from the final 18 balls.
There was more drama on the final ball of the over when Lynn was given out lbw. However, he reviewed the decision, and replays showed the ball missing the stumps. The decision was overturned through DRS, allowing Lynn to continue.

Lynn scored an unbeaten 108 runs off 51 balls, including 11 sixes and 5 fours, at a strike rate above 200. It was his fourth century in the T20 Blast and his first for Hampshire. The batter had previously scored three centuries for Northamptonshire in 2021 and 2022.
Earlier, Hampshire opted to bowl first and ran through Northamptonshire’s top order, leaving them struggling at 86 for 6 at one stage. Justin Broad then scored an unbeaten 61 from 39 deliveries to lift the total to 158 for 7 in 18 overs.
Hampshire booked their spot in the final for a fourth T20 crown, where they will face Somerset. Somerset have been a dominant force in recent years, reaching four of the last five finals.
It's Easy to Sit Here And Say - Chris Lynn
After the match, Lynn stated that the surface appeared easier later on. He added that Hampshire still had one more step to complete. The batter also mentioned that he enjoyed playing in the Hampshire jersey.
"It's easy to sit here and say it's a flat wicket now. [It was a case of] one ball at a time, we knew it had a bit in it up front, they've got some quality seam bowlers," Lynn said at the post-match presentation.
"For us, it was about partnerships. That's the first domino down. Really happy, but still got one more job to do. Personally, it would top my day off if we could go again. I really like this shirt, I hope they'll have me back next year," he added.
