Former Indian players Aakash Chopra and Irfan Pathan had a discussion about the Indian squad for the ICC T20I World Cup 2022. During the discussion, both the commentators named 3 Indian players who have already cemented their places in the squad for the ICC tournament.

ICC T20I World Cup 2022 is set to take place later this year in Australia. The tournament will commence in October. ICC has also announced the groups and schedule for the tournament. Last year, India faced a humiliating first-round exit in T20I World Cup 2021, in which Australia emerged champions by winning their first-ever title.

Aakash Chopra, Irfan Pathan Name 3 Indian Players Certain To Be Part Of T20 World Cup 2022

During the pre-match show of India vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I at Star Sports, Akash Chopra and Irfan Pathan talked about Indian players who will be part of the squad in ICC T20I World Cup 2022. Aakash Chopra feels that Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rishabh Pant are all certain to be part of the Indian squad.

“Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rishabh Pant are all certain in the 15 (15-member squad for the World Cup). They also give you an option to open with Virat Kohli and play Rahul in the middle-order.

“Rahul can also be your second wicketkeeping option. You need a left-hander in the middle-order and Rishabh Pant fills that space”, Chopra said.

Former India pacer Irfan Pathan guaranteed that Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant will be part of the playing XI of the team in the tournament.

“I think SKY (Suryakumar) and Pant are in the XI, you can take that in writing. I know there is still time and they have to keep performing, but the way SKY has cemented his place in the XI, it’s really worthy of praise,” Pathan said.

Meanwhile, India defeated Sri Lanka in the 3rd T20I by 6 wickets to bag a 3-0 whitewash in the series. Earlier, India also defeated Sri Lanka by 62 runs in the 1st T20I and 7 wickets in the 2nd T20I. Shreyas Iyer, who slammed a half-century in all three matches, was awarded player of the series. He slammed 204 runs in 3 games.

With the victory, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian side is on a 12-match winning streak in the shortest format. Now, the Indian team is set to host Sri Lanka for two Tests at home, with the IND vs SL 1st test scheduled to start on March 4.
