Former Pakistan National Cricket Team player Basit Ali launched a ruthless attack on the white-ball captain Babar Azam for his poor performance in the Test series opener against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team.

In the first innings of the match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Babar Azam bagged a 2-ball duck and was at the receiving end of heavy online trolling.

Notably, the conditions in Rawalpindi were quite batting-friendly, and the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Rizwan, and Saud Shakeel made the most of it. However, Babar Azam, who is unarguably the most talented among the aforementioned players, wasn't able to deliver.

Meanwhile, as Babar Azam came out to bat in the second innings, he was on the verge of bagging a double duck in the match but a Litton Das blunder behind the stumps helped Babar survive.

After receiving a lifeline, Pakistan fans cheered and expected Babar to capitalize and score big. However, he was only able to play a total of 50 balls and score 22 runs before taking a long walk back to the pavilion. Pacer Nahid Rana dismissed him on the third ball of the 26th over.

I'm feeling very disappointed that it seems as if you’ve forgotten how to bat - Basit Ali

Basit Ali, who is one of the admirers of the Pakistan white-ball skipper, ripped apart Babar for failing against Bangladesh. He expressed his disappointment over Babar's performance and said that the 29-year-old has forgotten how to bat.

Basit Ali also mocked the 29-year-old, saying that he acts like he is Don Bradman of Pakistan and further slammed him for the way he got out.

"I'm feeling very disappointed that it seems as if you’ve forgotten how to bat, or have the Bangladesh bowlers cast some magic on you, or is it the pitch that’s done the trick? Aap log toh bade bade Bradman ho na (You all are supposed to be big Bradmans, right?) ICC No. 1 Babar Azam. He got a life when a catch was dropped, but then Nahid Rana chased Babar down with his pace. When he got out, it looked like he didn’t even expect the ball to come back like that."

Babar Azam's overall numbers are great in Test cricket as he has scored 3920 runs in 53 matches at an average of 45.95 to go with 9 centuries and 26 fifties. However, Babar Azam's recent poor performances have led to heavy criticism from all sides.

Talking about the Pakistan vs Bangladesh 1st Test, the home team faced a 10-wicket thrashing after giving a target of 30 runs to Bangladesh for the fourth innings.

It was a complete failure of Pakistan's batting in their second innings as they got bundled out for just 146 runs, struggling against the Bangladesh spinners.

Also, this was the first-ever defeat of Pakistan against Bangladesh in the history of Test cricket as they had won the previous 12 matches with one game ending in a draw.
