During an appearance on The Shubhankar Mishra Podcast, AB de Villiers was asked to name a potential successor to his “Mr. 360” title. De Villiers jokingly said that it’s unfortunate that Brevis plays for CSK instead of his former team, RCB, but added that it might change in the future.
"From South Africa, I would say Dewald Brevis. He also wears the number 17 on his back. He plays a similar brand of cricket, very attacking. He still has a lot to learn," de Villiers said.
"Yeah, it's a shame he's playing for CSK and not RCB, but that can still change — never say never. I think Dewald Brevis is probably the closest," he added.
AB de Villiers Picks 14-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi as Future Indian Star
AB de Villiers was asked to name an Indian batter. He picked Suryakumar Yadav for his abilities, but pointed out that he's no longer among the younger players. De Villiers mentioned that 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a promising talent from the next generation.
"I think Suryakumar Yadav. He's a bit older. If I have to look at the younger generation, maybe Vaibhav Suryavanshi, someone like that. He's only 14 years old and still has a lot to learn."
"It's amazing (on maiden IPL century). I didn't think it could ever happen. It's impossible, honestly. You know, the youngsters of today are a different breed. They don't look scared; they're fearless. When I started playing, I was so nervous."

Dewald Brevis Joined CSK as a Replacement Player in IPL 2025
Dewald Brevis went unsold at the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. However, he got an opportunity midway through the season when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) brought him in as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh.
Brevis made an impact for the five-time champions. He played six matches and scored 225 runs at a strike rate of 180. Dewald registered two half-centuries, with his best performance being a 57-run knock against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
However, Chennai endured a disappointing campaign. The team managed just four wins from their 14 league matches and finished at the bottom of the points table. It was the first time in IPL history that CSK ended a season with the wooden spoon.
