While Vaibhav has been destroying bowling attacks in the ongoing IPL 2026, Jacob Bethell is not getting the regular chances with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) because of the strong overseas combination in the playing XI this season.
However, the England star played only three matches because of an injury to Phil Salt, but many cricket experts believe Bethell has extraordinary talent and can become one of the future stars. The 22-year-old has already shown glimpses of aggressive batting, fearless stroke play, and confidence against quality bowling attacks across the formats.
Meanwhile, the 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has continued to create absolute madness this season. The left-handed opener has already smashed 404 runs in just 10 matches at a stunning strike rate above 237, leaving some of the best bowlers helpless with his fearless batting style.

Given that, De Villiers predicted that both Vaibhav and Bethell will become the bright superstars of the game of cricket and called them “fantastic talent." The former South African captain believes that they are still very young and have a lot to learn, but as they gain more experience and maturity, both players could become unstoppable in world cricket.
AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel, "I am pretty sure I have mentioned his (Jacob Bethell's) name a few times. I do agree with you. He's a wonderful, wonderful player. Plenty of obstacles ahead of him. Reminds me, very different ages actually, but both are left-handers; reminds me of Sooryavanshi. Fantastic talent, huge future ahead of them.”

He further added, "Bright, bright, bright superstars of the game of cricket, but plenty still to learn and plenty of obstacles still to go through. Jacob is not as young as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi but has similar kinds of credentials. Superstar talent but plenty still to learn. Once they gain experience over time, I feel those two players will be unstoppable.”

The legendary batter also hopes the RCB sees Bethell as the long-term prospect and future match-winner in the IPL and continues investing in him for many years.
He signed off by saying, “Hopefully Jacob will stay with RCB; I have no doubt that they will have plans of keeping hold of him for many years to come. I do believe he has got the ability to win plenty of games for RCB in the future.”
