Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) captain Ramiz Raja mocked former captain Misbah-ul-Haq during a recent TV interview with Peshawar Zalmi batter Abdul Samad in PSL 2026. Samad said his passion for cricket began after watching Misbah play a ramp shot in the 2007 World Cup final against Team India.

The youngster is currently playing for Peshawar Zalmi in the domestic tournament. Samad impressed with the bat in the recent match against Karachi Kings. Peshawar Zalmi secured a 159-run win at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Thursday. They moved to second place on the points table.

Samad: Nahi koi bhi nahi khelta, bilkul. [No, no one plays at all.]

Ramiz Raja: Toh aap ne yeh ghalati kyun ki? [Then why did you make this mistake?]

Samad: Bas shuru se junoon tha aur ek mention karunga ke jo 2007 mein world cup Misbah bhai ne shot jo khela tha mera asal shauq wahan se shuru hua ke Pakistan wo world cup haar gaya tha. Toh koshish maine karni thi ke... [I just had passion from the start, and I’ll mention one thing - in the 2007 World Cup, the shot Misbah bhai played, that’s where my real interest began because Pakistan lost that World Cup. So I wanted to try that…]

Ramiz Raja: Ke waisi shot na khelo! (Laughs) [So that you don’t play that kind of shot!]

Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis Help Peshawar Zalmi Post 246/3

David Warner, captain of Karachi Kings, won the toss and chose to field first. Khushdil Shah bowled the opening over and dismissed Peshawar Zalmi opener Mohammad Haris for zero. Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis then took control at the National Bank Stadium.

Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis added a massive 191-run stand for the second wicket, which is now the highest partnership for any wicket in PSL history. The partnership came off 97 balls, breaking the previous record of 176 runs set by Sharjeel Khan in 2021.

Mendis scored the fastest century for Peshawar Zalmi in PSL history, making 109 off 52 balls before Abbas Afridi dismissed him in the 17th over. He hit 14 fours and four sixes, becoming the first Sri Lankan to achieve this milestone.

Babar remained unbeaten on 87 off 51 balls, hitting ten boundaries and two sixes. He also added a quick 49-run stand with Abdul Samad for the fourth wicket.

Samad played a quick cameo, scoring an unbeaten 40 off just 12 balls with three boundaries and four sixes, helping Peshawar Zalmi post 246/3. Abbas Afridi finished with two wickets for 55 runs.

Karachi Kings Suffer Batting Collapse

Chasing a massive 247-run target, Karachi Kings suffered a heavy batting collapse. David Warner, who returned from Australia, was dismissed for a first-ball duck. Fellow opener Muhammad Waseem also fell without scoring.

Azam Khan top-scored with 25 before the batting lineup collapsed. Karachi Kings were bowled out for just 87 in 16.1 overs. This is the lowest total at the National Bank Stadium in Pakistan Super League history.

Peshawar Zalmi won by 159 runs, the biggest margin of victory in PSL history. They moved to second place in the eight-team points table following the victory.
