Ahead of the ICC U19 final against England, the 33-year-old batting maestro addressed the Indian team. During the conversation, Ravi had asked Kohli about his weakness. Kohli came up with a hilarious reply to the question asked by the U19 sensation.
“I asked him what is his weakness. And he replied, ‘kyun abhi se out karne ki training kar raha hai kya (Why? Are you planning to get me out now only?),” Ravi said.
Coaches kept telling me to do the basics and not worry about the results – Ravi Kumar
The young pacer after the U-19 World Cup victory said that the coaches told him to stick to basics and he exactly did that. He added that he planned to bowl in tight line and length during the World Cup games.
“Coaches kept telling me to do the basics and not worry about the results. The plan was to maintain tight line and length. The ball was sticking a bit and wanted to bowl full to get some movement,” said Kumar.
Meanwhile, India U19 are the most successful team in the history of the Under-19 World Cup, as in the 14 editions they have entered the final 8 times and have won the championship 5 times.
With India’s U19 World Cup 2022 victory, skipper Yash Dhull has joined the likes of Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand, and Prithvi Shaw who have guided India to the World Cup titles in the past. Kaif captained India to a title win in 2000, while Kohli did it in 2008, Unmukt in 2012, and Shaw in 2018.
