India National Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir was in awe of Abhishek Sharma's batting brilliance against the high-quality English bowlers at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, February 2.

Gautam Gambhir labeled Abhishek Sharma's ton as the best-ever, saying that he has not seen a better century in T20 cricket from a batter against the pacers, who bowl at 140-150 kmph consistently.

Abhishek Sharma switched on his beast mode at Wankhede

The explosive opener Sharma went berserk against the English bowlers right from the start and smashed them all over the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

He looked at his very best and was hitting the balls cleanly. Abhishek Sharma completed his fifty in no time as he reached the milestone off 17 balls, making the likes of Gautam Gambhir and Mukesh Ambani stand and applaud him.

The left-handed batter wasn't done there as he accelerated even further and continued his destruction with the bat, making the opposition bowlers look clueless.

He took just 37 balls to complete his second T20I ton and it was the second fastest by an Indian batter in T20I cricket behind the 35-ball efforts by Rohit Sharma.

Abhishek eventually finished with the score of 135 runs off 54 balls. This was the highest individual score for an Indian batter in T20Is, surpassing 126* by Shubman Gill against New Zealand, and was also the second-highest against England behind Aaron Finch's 156 in Southampton.

The left-handed batter smashed 7 fours and 13 sixes and created a record as 13 sixes is the most by an Indian batter in a T20I innings surpassing the previous highest of ten each by Rohit Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Varma.

I haven't seen a better T20 hundred against bowlers who are bowling at 140-150 kph consistently - Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma's sensational hitting left Gautam Gambhir astonished as the head coach, while speaking on Star Sports, heaped praise on the opening batter and said that he hasn't seen a better T20 ton. He said:

"I haven't seen a better T20 hundred against bowlers who are bowling at 140-150 kph consistently."

We are going to do this going forward, got to play fearless cricket. We want to keep backing players like Abhishek Sharma. We have to be patient with these boys. Most of these boys believe in the ideology of playing fearless cricket," he added.

One of the best T20 innings I've ever seen - Suresh Raina

The former teammate of Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina, also came up with a similar type of statement as he took to his official X handle to praise Abhishek Sharma and label his innings as one of the best of all time. Raina also mentioned Abhishek's mentor Yuvraj Singh in his tweet. He wrote:

"What a knock, @IamAbhiSharma4 ! One of the best T20 innings I've ever seen! Keep shining, brother! @YUVSTRONG12 pa, you've trained him exceptionally well! So thrilled to see his success! #Cricket #T20 #abhisheksharma."
