The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has announced the senior men's probables for the upcoming 2026-27 domestic season across red-ball and white-ball formats. Wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel has been left out of both squads following allegations of rape and assault and his recent arrest in Kolkata.

Bengal will begin their domestic campaign in the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 Elite division on October 11. The team will then turn its attention to white-ball cricket, with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy scheduled to begin on November 14. Their pre-season preparations will start with the Siechem Trophy in Puducherry.

Abishek Porel Excluded Following Arrest Over Serious Criminal Allegations

The CAB has left Abishek Porel out of its senior men's probables for the 2026–27 domestic season. Porel, who was arrested by Kolkata Police on August 11, has denied the allegations. Notably, the case remains under investigation.

According to the complaint, the woman alleged that she had been in a relationship with Porel for around three-and-a-half years and that the two had discussed marriage. She further alleged that Porel established a physical relationship with her on the promise of marriage and later confined and assaulted her.

The complaint also includes allegations of criminal intimidation and recording private moments without her consent. Notably, the Calcutta High Court directed the police to arrest Porel and seize his electronic devices as part of the investigation.

Porel, who represents Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, played four matches in IPL 2026 and scored 108 runs, including a half-century. Across his IPL career, he has scored 769 runs in 35 matches at a strike rate of 145.36.

Mohammed Shami, Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar Headline Red-Ball Probables

Experienced pacers Mohammed Shami, Akash Deep, and Mukesh Kumar, along with captain Abhimanyu Easwaran, and established domestic batters such as Sudip Gharami and Sudip Chatterjee have been included in the 33-man red-ball probables.

Akash Deep returns to the Bengal setup after recovering from a back injury that kept him out during the previous Ranji Trophy campaign. Shami and Mukesh add experience to a pace attack that also features Ishan Porel, Suraj Jaiswal, Md Kaif, Geet Puri and Kanishk Seth.

The selection committee has also included several players who impressed in domestic cricket. Karan Lal earned a place after his standout Bengal T20 League campaign, where he became the first player in the tournament to score a century and take a hat-trick in the same match.
