The Asian Cricket Council (ACC), led by Mohsin Naqvi, is now shifting focus to administrative matters amid dramatic events in Dubai, both on and off the field. Notably, the ACC will reconvene its pending Annual General Meeting later this month, where unresolved issues are expected to be addressed.

The ACC has rescheduled its Annual General Meeting for September 30, two days after the Asia Cup 2025 final, set to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 28. Notably, the AGM will address pending issues from the session that was abruptly adjourned a few months ago in Dhaka.

The agenda has not yet been officially shared, but several controversies, including the no-handshake incident and the dispute over the match referee from the ongoing Asia Cup, are expected to be discussed.

The ACC vice-president election is likely to be addressed at the AGM. This issue was left unresolved during the July 24 meeting in Dhaka after opposition from the BCCI and is expected to be one of the most important points.

Uncertainty Over BCCI Representation at Upcoming ACC Annual Meeting

It remains unclear who will represent the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the upcoming Asian Cricket Council annual meeting. The timing overlaps with the Women’s ODI World Cup in Guwahati, where officials are expected to be involved in the opening ceremony.

Clarity on India’s representation will only emerge at the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting in Mumbai on September 28. Rajeev Shukla and Ashish Shelar are India’s current nominated delegates to the ACC and had participated virtually in the Dhaka meeting earlier this year.

The ILT20 organizers have postponed their player auction by a day, from September 30 to October 1 in Dubai, to avoid clashing with the ACC proceedings and ensure full attention.

ICC Backed Referee Andy Pycroft Amid Pakistan’s Protest Over Handshake Controversy

The Pakistan-UAE match was delayed by an hour in Dubai on Wednesday, September 17. Mohsin Naqvi accused ICC match referee Andy Pycroft of violating the code of conduct during the India-Pakistan toss, when the captains refused to shake hands, and demanded his removal.

The ICC investigated the incident and rejected calls to replace Pycroft. Notably, the ICC retained Pycroft despite multiple emails and threats of withdrawal from the tournament.

Pycroft held meetings with Pakistani officials, including captain Salman Agha, manager Naveed Akram Cheema, and coach Mike Hesson. The PCB released a muted video on social media. Pycroft officiated the game and will continue to oversee Pakistan’s remaining matches in the Asia Cup 2025
