The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has on Monday (June 2) officially postponed the ACC Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2025, which was scheduled to begin on June 6 in Sri Lanka. The ACC has taken the decision after Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva requested ACC President Mohsin Naqvi to postpone the tournament due to an unavoidable situation.
In the letter, Shammi Silva mentioned two major concerns and they are the ongoing bad weather in Sri Lanka and rising health risks due to the spread of chikungunya disease in the region. Taking these concerns seriously, they decided to delay the tournament to ensure the safety of players and staff.

There has been no discussion to withdraw from any ACC event: BCCI
Earlier, there were rumors that India might pull out of the ACC tournament, including the upcoming men’s Asia Cup 2025, after a tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir in April 2025 that killed 26 tourists. Then, India responded to Pakistan with military actions last month.
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia dismissed the speculation, saying there has been no talk of pulling out from the ACC tournaments. The BCCI secretary also added that India’s focus is currently on the IPL 2025 and the upcoming England series for both men’s and women’s teams.
Devajit Saikia had stated, “There has been no discussion or decision to withdraw from any ACC event. Our current focus remains on the Indian Premier League and the upcoming England series for both the men’s and women’s teams.”
