Perth Scorchers head coach Adam Voges has dismissed reports linking him with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) head coach role. Speaking at a press conference in Chennai, the former cricketer confirmed that CSK have not approached him about replacing Stephen Fleming ahead of the IPL 2027 season.
The five-time IPL champions are looking for a new head coach after parting ways with Fleming in July. Fleming ended his 18-year association with the franchise to take up England’s Test coaching role. The Super Kings also want to revamp their coaching staff after missing the IPL playoffs for three consecutive seasons.

Adam Voges confirmed that he has not had any discussions with Chennai Super Kings over their vacant head coach position. The former Australia batter addressed the speculation while speaking to the media in Chennai ahead of the historic Big Bash League (BBL) fixture.
“No, there hasn’t. I appreciate that CSK are looking for a new coach, but no, there hasn’t been any conversation,” Voges said.

Voges became a reported candidate after a successful coaching stint with Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers. He stepped down from his Western Australia role at the end of the 2025-26 season but remained involved in franchise cricket. He also coached the Seattle Orcas in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2026.
Adam Voges Set for Historic BBL Match in Chennai
Adam Voges is currently in Chennai ahead of the historic opening match of the BBL 2026-27 season. For the first time in the competition’s history, the season opener will be played outside Australia.
The Perth Scorchers, coached by Voges and the defending champions, will face the Melbourne Renegades at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on December 12. The match will mark the BBL’s first fixture in India.
The game will headline the week-long “G’Day Namaste” festival, which aims to strengthen sporting, tourism, and trade ties between Australia and India.
Voges took charge of the Perth Scorchers before the 2018–19 season and has continued to build on the franchise’s strong record in the Big Bash League. Under his coaching, the Scorchers won consecutive BBL titles and have remained regular playoff contenders.
Hemang Badani Emerges as Leading CSK Head Coach Candidate
CSK are searching for a new head coach after Stephen Fleming ended his 18-year association with the franchise in July. Fleming helped the Super Kings win five IPL titles and two Champions League T20 trophies.
The franchise finished eighth in IPL 2026 and has now missed the playoffs in three consecutive seasons. CSK are looking to rebuild ahead of the 2027 season.
Former India batter Hemang Badani has emerged as a leading candidate for the role. Reports suggest that former CSK captain MS Dhoni prefers an Indian-led coaching setup, which could strengthen Badani’s position. However, CSK are also considering overseas options.
Eoin Morgan and Brendon McCullum have been mentioned among the possible foreign candidates, although there have been no formal talks with either. Michael Hussey is another option within the existing setup, with former India selector Kris Srikkanth backing his familiarity with the franchise.
