Afghanistan announce squad for next Asia Cup; Mumbai Indians spinner picked

The Afghanistan cricket board has announced its squad for the upcoming Asia Cup Rising Stars. India and Pakistan had already announced their teams yesterday, with a complete schedule of their matches released alongside.
The Rising Stars Asia Cup tournament team will include several nations that also participated in the Asia Cup 2025. The tournament has been scheduled to be played from the 14th to the 23rd of November in Doha, Qatar.
India A have announced their squad, naming RCB wicket-keeper batsman Jitesh Sharma as the captain of the side. The Indian team will take on Pakistan for the first time since the Asia Cup final on the 28th of October.
Afghanistan announce squad for Asia Cup Rising Stars
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has revealed its squad for the upcoming Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. The National selection committee has finalized the AfghanAbdalyan squad, the defending champions of the tournament.
Darwish Rasooli has been named the captain of the AfghanAbdalyan side. He had led the Afghan team to their inaugural title last year. Abdullah Ahmadzai, the fast bowler who made his debut across all three formats of the game for Afghanistan against Zimbabwe, has also been included in the squad.
Sediqullah Atal, who was part of Afghanistan's squad in the Asia Cup, has also been picked for the AfghanAbdalyan side in the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025.

ACB squad features 10 players from the previous title-winning squad
The ACB has announced its squad, which includes a total of ten players who were previously part of the winning team during the previous edition of the tournament. Sediqullah Atal, AM Ghazanfar, Bilal Sami, Zubaid Akbari, Mohammad Ishaq, Qais Ahmad, and Nangyal Kharoti are among the players who have been part of both squads.
AfghanAbdalyan have been placed in Pool B, alongside Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A and Hong Kong China, the same arrangement as that of the Asia Cup 2025. While Pool A comprises India A, Pakistan A, UAE and Oman.

Afghanistan revealed the schedule for the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament
ACB CEO Mr Naseeb Khan stated, “AfghanAbdalyan have emerged victorious in the previous edition of the event and will be defending their title during this year’s event in Doha. We cherish the memories from last year, and with the aim of retaining the title, we have named our squad. I am confident the team will perform well and bring pride to the nation once again.”
They have also unveiled the schedule for the AfghanAbdalyan, who will play three group-stage matches against Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, and lastly Hong Kong China. The three matches are scheduled on the 15th of November, the 17th of November, and lastly the 19th of November.
The semi-finals will be played on the 21st of November, and the final is scheduled for the 23rd of November.
