The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced a 15-man squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe which will be played in Abu Dhabi. The first match of the series will be played on March 17.
However, the ACB has reported that five other members of the team will be added to the squad after their visa issues are resolved and hence their selection is still pending as of now.
Afghanistan Draws Level In The Test Series Despite Zimbabwe Fightback
Afghanistan won the second Test against Zimbabwe, despite much valor shown by Sean Williams and his men after they were asked to follow-on. Williams played a captain’s knock of 151* while Donald Tiripano made 95 as Zimbabwe made 365 runs setting Afghanistan 108 to win.
However, Rahmat Shah’s 59 was enough for Afghans to win the match by 6 wickets. Before this, Hashmatullah Shahidi became the country’s first double-centurion, while Asghar Afghan made 164 as Afghanistan made 545/5d. Zimbabwe replied with 287, as Rashid Khan picked 4/138 and then came back to bowl a marathon spell of 62.5 overs in the second innings, to pick 137/7, bowling a total of over 99 overs in the match, the most by a bowler in 21st century in a Test.
Hashmatullah Shahidi was named the Player of the Match, while Sean Williams was given the Player of the Series award. Williams made 2 centuries and a total of 264 runs, including 105 and 2 wickets in Zimbabwe’s win in the first Test match.
