ICC Afghanistan, Pakistan

While the Afghanistan Cricket Board thanked the ICC for showing solidarity for the death of 3 cricketers, the board quickly reminded the International body to take strong measures against a nation responsible for such heinous attacks.

On Friday, the Taliban officials claimed that Pakistan violated the terms of the ceasefire within just 48 hours by launching airstrikes on the Afghan territory, which led to the death of 10 people; 3 of them were young Afghan cricketers.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board, as a result of these strikes, confirmed the developments on the death of the cricketers and immediately pulled out of the tri-series against Pakistan, which was scheduled to be played under PCB's supervision from the 17th of November.

BCCI and ICC issued statements condoling the loss of the three cricketers

After the incident occurred, both the BCCI and ICC issued separate statements condoling the demise of three cricketers and expressing their solidarity with the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

The ACB might have started the linkup with a thankful gesture extended towards the International Cricket Council, but quickly reminded them of something else. While thanking the Apex international body, they have mentioned their compassion and neutrality in dealing with teams.

“The Afghanistan Cricket Board extends its sincere gratitude to the @ICC for issuing its statement following the ACB’s appeal. This gesture genuinely reflects the ICC’s neutrality, compassion, and commitment to fairness in expressing its sorrow and sympathy over the tragic martyrdom of young domestic cricketers in Afghanistan,” the ACB wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

ACB reminds ICC of action against Pakistan for the heinous crime

After having thanked them, the Afghanistan Cricket Board, through their tweet, was quick to remind the Jay Shah-led body of their actual demand to take strict action against the nation and the board, who are linked with the forces that have committed such a heinous crime.

“The ACB has consistently upheld the principle of keeping sports separate from politics and has maintained this stance within the framework of the ICC. The Afghanistan Cricket Board once again strongly condemns this act of violence. While deeply appreciating the ICC’s expression of solidarity, the ACB urges the implementation of firm and decisive measures against those responsible for this inhumane attack,” it added.

Pakistan named Zimbabwe as Afghanistan's replacement in the tri-series

After Afghanistan withdrew from the T20 series, the Pakistan Cricket Board was not, for once, looking to end their hopes with the tri-series since they immediately started writing off teams available during the window.

As per reports, Zimbabwe have agreed to Pakistan's invitation and will feature as the third team alongside Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the tri-series. The tournament will have the same schedule from the 17th to the 29th of November, with only Zimbabwe replacing Afghanistan in the matches.
