Openers: Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran
Afghanistan will eye a comeback after losing the first match of the ongoing tri-series against Pakistan and would hope to deliver a strong performance against the UAE, which is also coming in the contest after losing to Pakistan.
Focusing on Afghanistan, the Rashid Khan-led side will have to get things right, especially in the batting, as they suffered a collapse in the middle overs of the run chase against the Men in Green.
The likes of Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Karim Janat will have to take the onus on themself to get the team over the line if a similar situation arises in the next match.
Before the trio, Afghans would bank on the openers to get he team off to a solid start in the first six overs.
The pair of experienced batters Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran will have to put pressure on the opposition bowlers right from the first ball.
As individual batters, both players will have to score big at a good strike rate, which Zadran failed to do in the series opener, while Gurbaz wasn't able to prolong his innings after getting off to a start.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Karim Janat, Rashid Khan (c)
The openers will be followed by a middle order that couldn't capitalize on the good start provided by Zadran and young Sediquallh Atal in the first match, and would hope to get things corrected in the next game.
Afghani middle order has got a good blend of youth and experience, which includes names like Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli, who will have to assist senior batters like Mohammad Nabi, Karim Janat, and captain Rashid Khan.
The top five batters will have to score the majority of the runs for Afghanistan while batting first, and while the target as well.
On the other hand, all-rounders like Karim Janat and Rashid Khan, who will most likely bat at number seven and eight, respectively, will fulfill the role of finishers.
Bowlers: Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Fareed Ahmad Malik
Unlike their batting, the Afghan bowling did a decent job by restricting Pakistan to a chaseable total in the first match despite going for runs at the backend of the innings.
The team's bowling effort was led by Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who bowled economically and kept the pressure on from one end.
Afghanistan made full use of their spin bowlers, who are considered to be the strength of the team
The only area of concern, as far as the bowling department was their fast bowlers, who were taken to the cleaners.
The Rashid Khan-led side, which is expected to go in the match against the UAE, with the same bowling lineup, would want a better effort from the fast bowlers.
