Afghanistan vs Ireland 2021, 1st ODI: Pitch Report

Sheikh Zayed Stadium (Abu Dhabi) will host this ODI series opener between Afghanistan and Ireland on Thursday. Ahead of this crucial series, this venue just recently hosted the ODI series between the hosts UAE and the visitors Ireland.

Though it was the four-match ODI series between the UAE and Ireland, the middle two matches were unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19 health concern. While UAE successfully managed to chase the 270 runs target in the first ODI, the last ODI pitch was slower as the hosts failed to chase 229 runs target as Ireland bundled them out for only 116 runs.

Talking about the overall ODI records at this venue, the first batting sides majorly enjoy and we can see the similar picture in the day ODIs too. Even 250+ totals are really tough to chase at this venue, especially in the day ODIs.
