Virat Kohli is again trending on social media platforms for an off-field moment, which the fans have turned into a humorous encounter. According to various screenshots across social media platforms, the Indian batting star ‘liked’ a photo featuring the South African and German influencer LizLaz and photographer Advait Vaidya.

According to media reports, Virat Kohli is not a follower of the influencer, but his name appeared on the ‘like’ section of the post, which has sparked a series of speculations, as well as multiple memes, as it is not the first time Virat Kohli’s social media account has been involved because of a possible ‘algorithm glitch’.

Virat Kohli's account could be seen on the liked section of the post.

Netizens are making fun of Virat Kohli's social media interaction

Instead of creating much speculation of spreading rumours, the fans have taken a moment as a light-hearted moment. Netizens are now randomly using Kohli’s past clarification as a reference to explain the current instance.

“Kohli liked this post on Instagram. Another paragraph loading on the algorithm,” one of the fans jokingly said in reaction to the liked photo of the South African influencer LizLaz. “It is just an algorithm glitch, guys & it happens with everyone. Sometimes, I see posts on my Insta that I never like,” another user wrote in reaction. While another comment reads, “Chain se like bhi ni krne deta ye samaaj.”

The 'like' might have been removed from the post.

“Kohli ne post ko dislike kr diya hai,” some of the latest comments claim, as Virat Kohli’s ‘like’ is seemingly removed from the post soon after the screenshots of the post went viral. While writing the article, the much-discussed post has gained 45.3K likes and 5.8K comments, which is considered a massive engagement. Most of the comments in the post are related to Virat Kohli.

A similar incident happened last year

A similar incident happened with the star cricketer last year in May, when his profile name appeared on the likes section of actress Avneet Kaur’s photo. Fans quickly noticed, and Kohli started trending on social media. Amid the rising speculations, the batter came forward with an explanation. The Delhi-born then claimed that he had no intention for the interaction. But because of an algorithm glitch, it happened.

“I'd like to clarify that while clearing my feed, the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. I appreciate your understanding,” Virat Kohli explained after liking a photo of Avneet Kaur.

As the present incident is seemingly similar to the past incident, netizens are using the ‘algorithm’ term widely to relate to the previous incident. As of now, there is no official clarification from Virat. It will be interesting to see what he will say in defence to shut down all the running speculations.

Currently, the batter is with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) season as the defending champions. So far, the right-handed batter has performed well for the team in the ongoing campaign.
