KS Bharat, who has been out of the Indian cricket team for some time, will play club cricket in England. The wicketkeeper-batter, who went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, has signed with a club and will participate in matches in the 2025 Surrey Championship campaign.
The 31-year-old has represented India in seven Tests, including the ICC World Test Championship final 2023 against Australia. He last played for the national cricket team in the Test series against England in 2024. The right-handed batter has scored 221 runs at an average of 20.99, with a best score of 44.
Indian Wicketkeeper KS Bharat Joins Dulwich Cricket Club for 2025 Season
KS Bharat will play for London-based Dulwich Cricket Club in the 2025 Surrey Championship campaign. The club, recently promoted to the Premier Division, has high expectations from the Indian wicketkeeper-batter. Dulwich hopes Bharat will contribute with his performances and international experience.
Bharat was dropped from the Indian team following the ICC World Test Championship final in 2023. However, he earned a recall with impressive domestic performances.
Bharat made notable contributions for India 'A' against England Lions in Ahmedabad in 2024. He registered scores of 64, 15, and an unbeaten 116 during the series. The batter featured in India's home Test series against England in 2024, which was his last appearance for the national cricket team.
KS Bharat's Test Cricket Comeback Depends on Performance
KS Bharat first gained attention when he became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a triple century in the Ranji Trophy. He has scored 5686 runs in 105 first-class matches, with 10 centuries and 32 half-centuries. However, the Andhra Pradesh-born cricketer has underwhelmed in international cricket.
With Rishabh Pant returning from injury as the first-choice wicketkeeper and Dhruv Jurel emerging as a strong contender, Bharat's chances of making a comeback to the national team look bleak. A good outing with Dulwich and performances in the Ranji Trophy could boost his chances of playing for India again.
KS Bharat Went Unsold in Indian Premier League 2025 Mega Auction
KS Bharat has played for multiple Indian Premier League franchises. He represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Delhi Capitals (DC).
The wicketkeeper-batter has featured in 10 matches in the cash-rich tournament, scoring 199 runs at an average of 28.43 and a strike rate of 122.09. He has one half-century to his name, with a highest score of 78.
Bharat played a key role in Andhra’s batting lineup during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). He finished the tournament with 307 runs in seven innings at an impressive average of 76.75.
Adding to his strong performance, Bharat scored at a remarkable strike rate of 149. However, he remained unsold in the 2025 IPL mega auction, which would have been a major disappointment for him. Bharat has turned to an opportunity in England, where he will play club cricket.
