After IPL, Mustafizur Rahman officially out of PSL as BCB ditches PCB

BCB Mustafizur Rahman And Nahid Rana

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has withdrawn the No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) issued to two of its players for the rest of PSL 2026. Mustafizur Rahman (Lahore Qalandars) and Nahid Rana (Peshawar Zalmi) had returned from the Pakistan Super League to play in Bangladesh's home ODI series against New Zealand.

The BCB has now informed both players that they will not be permitted to return to the remainder of PSL 2026, which is approaching its end stages. Rahman was dealing with a knee injury after returning from the PSL and played only the third ODI against New Zealand, where he took a series-winning five-wicket haul.

Mustafizur to undergo scans: BCB

A statement from the BCB said that Rahman's knee injury would be assessed further as he would first get a scan, and then join a rehabilitation program.

"It has been decided that the player [Mustafizur] will undergo an immediate scan to further assess his condition after which he will commence a rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the BCB medical team. In this regard, the board has withdrawn the No Objection Certificate (NOC) previously issued to Mustafizur. He will therefore not be available to participate in the remainder of PSL 2026," read the statement.

After losing the first ODI by a close margin of just 26 runs, Bangladesh bounced back in the second and third matches and put up a strong show with the ball to win the series from behind. Both Mustafizur Rahman and Nahid Rana were front and center of this comeback.

Nahid Rana and Taksin Ahmed also rested

Alongside Mustafizur, fellow pacers Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed have also been rested by the BCB to manage their workload.

Rana was named the Player of the Series as Bangladesh won the ODI series against New Zealand by a margin of 2-1. Rana took 8 wickets in 3 matches at an average of 16.75. Mustafizur took a five-wicket haul in the only match he played and finished as the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the series.

Taskin played the first two matches of the series and took 3 wickets.

All three of Rana, Ahmed, and Mustafizur have been rested from the first two T20Is of the upcoming three-match T20I series.

This essentially means that Rana will not be allowed to return to the PSL either. He is expected to return to action in Bangladesh's Test series against Pakistan in May.

Mustafizur's return delayed

Since he is recovering from a knee injury, Mustafizur Rahman's comeback appears to have been delayed. He is now expected to feature in the white-ball series against Australia in June.

Both Rahman and Rana were performing very well for their respective PSL franchises. Mustafizur had taken 6 wickets in 5 matches for Lahore Qalandars, and Rana took 7 wickets in 4 matches for Peshawar Zalmi.

Zalmi are on top of the points table and have qualified for the playoffs. Qalandars, on the other hand, are fifth and fighting to get into the last stages.
