Team India batter Virat Kohli has become the first cricketer in history to cross the 900-point mark in ICC rankings across all three formats of the game in international cricket. The International Cricket Council (ICC) revised Kohli’s career-best T20I rating from 897 to 909, a year after he retired from the shortest format.

Virat Kohli retired from Test and T20I cricket. He announced his T20I retirement after India won the ICC T20 World Cup in June 2024. Before the start of India’s tour of England, the veteran batter also confirmed his exit from Test cricket. Kohli is now only available for selection in One-Day Internationals.

However, this is part of the ICC’s routine revision process, where they reassess past match data and adjust player ratings accordingly. It can lead to an increase or decrease in a player's career-best ratings based on reassessed data and updated methodologies.

Kohli’s revised T20I rating likely came after one such ICC review. The right-handed became the first cricketer ever to cross the 900-point mark in all three formats: Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.
