Ravindra Jadeja to Retire from ODIs After Champions Trophy Victory?
Virat Kohli was seen hugging Ravindra Jadeja after the all-rounder completed his bowling spell. The moment quickly gained attention and sparked speculation about Jadeja possibly retiring from ODIs. Notably, Rohit Sharma, Virat and Jadeja had retired from T20Is last year after the T20 World Cup 2024 win.
However, the Saurashtra-born cricketer took to his official Instagram to refute rumours surrounding his retirement from ODIs. Jadeja wrote, "No unnecessary rumors, thanks."

Ravindra Jadeja delivered a tight 10-over spell. The left-arm spinner conceded just 30 runs and picked up one wicket, while Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy took two wickets each. The Indian bowlers restricted New Zealand to 251/7 in 50 overs despite sloppy fielding throughout the summit clash.
Jadeja also scored an unbeaten nine runs off six balls and hit the winning runs for India. After sealing the victory, Jadeja celebrated in style. He performed the ‘Gangnam Style’ dance alongside Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh. The all-rounder also lifted Gautam Gambhir, who ran onto the ground to celebrate.
Kabhi Hero Ya Kabhi Zero Banane Ka Chance Hota Hai - Ravindra Jadeja
Speaking after the win, Jadeja said that his role as a finisher can be a thankless job. Jadeja stated that his batting position leaves him as either a hero or a zero, depending on the match situation. He credited Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul for easing the pressure on the team.
“Mera number aisa hai ki kabhi hero ya kabhi zero banane ka chance hota hai (My batting number is such that I’m either a hero or a zero at the end of the game). Luckily, Hardik and KL batted really well in the last 10 overs and stitched a crucial partnership," Jadeja told Star Sports.
“It was not easy to score runs in the middle, but credit goes to both of them as they took a lot of pressure from us,” he added.
Earlier, Jadeja retired from T20Is after India's 2024 T20 World Cup victory, following the path of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Jadeja has amassed 2,806 runs in 2023 ODIs and taken 231 wickets in his career. He was also a crucial member of India's 2013 Champions Trophy-winning squad.
