Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are all set to make big moves in the high-stakes IPL 2026 retention window, and all eyes are on their strategy ahead of the auction. In a bold approach, the CSK is reportedly prioritizing cash over player swaps this time.
The blockbuster IPL trade involving Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, and England all-rounder Sam Curran is almost finalized, with only the final approval from the BCCI remaining. Both Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have completed all major steps for the swap.

It is being said that the two franchises have submitted their Expressions of Interest (EOI) to the IPL Governing Council, and all the players involved—Samson, Jadeja, and Curran—have given their consent to the move. Once the BCCI approves the move, the trade will be officially confirmed.

All Cash will be priority from CSK
However, the five-time IPL champions have made no official moves yet, but a Revsportz journalist revealed that the Chennai Super Kings are looking for the right deals that maximize financial flexibility rather than chasing marquee trades for the next edition of the tournament.
Glenn Maxwell set to join Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026
The journalist hinted that the Chennai Super Kings are targeting Maxwell, Livingston, Deshpande, and Chahar in an all-cash trade deal ahead of the IPL 2026 auction. Even a well-known ESPNCricinfo journalist revealed that the Australian all-rounder Maxwell will be seen in iconic yellow next season.
He revealed that the PBKS and Chennai Super Kings are in talks for a trade deal, and it is all but confirmed that Maxwell is going to the Chennai franchise. Maxwell was part of the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025, but he yet again failed to live up to the expectations before an injury ruled him out of the entire season.
Now, Chennai Super Kings is parting ways with Ravindra Jadeja, along with Curran, to bring Samson on board; they are in need of a spin-bowling all-rounder who should also be a finisher, and Maxwell perfectly fits their demand. Thus, the franchise is running after Maxwell.
