After Shaheen Afridi trolls Mohsin Naqvi, Mohammad Rizwan says this on PCB chairman's 'major surgery' remark

Pakistan Cricket Team wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has come up with a massive statement on the current situation of the team. He said that the chairman of the board has all the rights to do what he wants to do with the team and can even do the surgery.

Pakistan Cricket Team since the last year has been having a torrid time. Things are not at all going in their favor as they have been extremely poor with both bat and ball and have faced a lot of disappointing defeats in all three formats of the game.

This also has not been helped by the captaincy saga that is going on. They had a debacle in the ICC World Cup 2023 and after that, Babar Azam was removed as the captain. Following that Shaheen Afridi was given the leadership but he didn't get time to prove himself as after one series he was removed.

Babar Azam then was again reappointed as the captain of the team. However, the move didn't work at all as after that Pakistan had a poor time. They failed to win against New Zealand, and England and also lost against Ireland. 

Not only this they then faced early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan faced losses against the United States of America and the Indian team which eliminated them from the tournament and saw them facing a lot of criticism for their poor outings.

With Pakistan under a lot of scanners, Mohammad Rizwan stated that all will be dependent on the Chairman of PCB - Mohsin Naqvi - about the future of the team. He also talked about the criticism that they have been facing, saying that they don't care about people. He stated that had there been politics in the team, they wouldn't have performed earlier. Speaking to the media, he explained:

"Chairman PCB has the right to perform surgery on the Pakistan team. What people say is that we don't care about people. As I said in the beginning, people didn't have this expectation from us. But maybe they went so far in this anger that they said that there was politics in the team, there were different things in the team. If there were different things, then we wouldn't have performed before. 

"But this is what people say. This is the same team that played in the semi-final in the last 3-4 years.  Yes, we didn't win the event, but we played in the semi-final, we played in the final, we played a lot of things. Every person has his own opinion."

Mohammad Rizwan also talked about the performance of the semi-finalists of the T20 World Cup 2024 Afghanistan. He recalled how they practiced in Peshawar and Rashid Latif pushed them to give their best. He stated that the Rashid Khan-led side deserved to be the finalists. He added:

"In the team of Afghanistan, most of the players, especially the seniors, there are a few left, but there are more youngsters. They have played in Peshawar. If you meet their players, believe me, they are all hard workers. I had asked Rashid Latif about them. I had met him specially. I had asked him about the players of Afghanistan. He said he reminded them of their nation. 

"He was saying that I would have put their nation in front of them. Then this team would have become completely different. Their playing would have become different. As a player, we thought that they could have gone further than this.  I thought that this was a finalist team," he concluded.

Rizwan has talked about everything other than why Pakistan team played horrendously during the World Cup and what exactly he was trying to achieve during the game against India.
