Delhi and Punjab Kings (PBKS) batting sensation Priyansh Arya had a memorable IPL 2025 debut season. Currently, Priyansh Arya is playing in the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2025 (DPL 2025).
On the sidelines of the DPL 2025, Arya has been ruling the headlines for his heroics with the bat, breakout IPL debut, red-ball ambitions, and bold statements on the Indian cricket greats. Recently, the 24-year-old stunned one and all by overlooking Virat Kohli for Shubman Gill.

Arya picked Gill as his “red-ball idol” despite Kohli having been widely hailed for his fierce passion, incredible work ethic, and outstanding success as both a batsman and captain. However, the former Indian captain retired from Test cricket in May 2025 ahead of the England tour.
Now, the left-handed batter rubbed the salt on India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah by revealing his favorite moment from his debut IPL season. The young sensation recalled the day when he launched Bumrah for a massive six over long-on in Jaipur that left the crowd stunned.
The moment was from the 69th match of the IPL 2025 between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 26. Chasing the target of 185 runs against the MI, Arya provided the PBKS a great start by playing a stunning knock of 62 runs off just 35 balls, laced with nine boundaries and two sixes.

Those sixes came against Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. In the 12th over, the MI captain Hardik Pandya bowled short around off, and Arya hit it high over wide long-on for a six. And then in the 13th over, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a short delivery, but Arya was quick to react.
The PBKS opener rocked back and pulled it hard over deep backward square leg for a huge six. This effortless shot left Bumrah and the crowd stunned, and it ended up being the youngster’s favorite moment from the last season, where he was among the top run scorers.
Priyansh Arya was quoted as saying by CNN-News18 Cricketnext, “Six off Jasprit Bumrah, over long on [in Jaipur].”
The youngster further noted that he never felt challenged by any bowler in the IPL 2025. Arya pointed out that he faces some of them in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, including India’s internationals, so the “level didn’t feel very different” to him.

Priyansh Arya’s dream IPL ends in heartbreak
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings fell just 6 runs short against RCB in their quest for a maiden IPL title, leaving Arya and his team disappointed. Making it to the IPL final is rare for any debutant, and the young Delhi batter experienced the highs of the big stage, but only to lose the trophy.
Priyansh admitted that he wished he could have done more. He stated, “Buraa to abhi bhi lagta hai… final tha! (I still feel bad; it was the IPL final!). Reaching the final after so many years (for PBKS) was special. For me, it was my first final, and for Punjab, it was his first in 11 years. I still feel I could have contributed more, but things didn’t go our way. That regret will stay until we finally win a title.”
