Young Oman cricketers Aryan Bisht and Samay Shrivastava were stunned by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s fearless power-hitting during the ongoing Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025. Both players admitted they were amazed by the left-handed batter’s ability to clear the boundary so effortlessly at just 14 years of age.
Vaibhav scored 144 runs off just 42 balls against the UAE, including 11 fours and 15 sixes, at a strike rate over 340. The left-handed batter became the joint second-fastest to score a T20 hundred by an Indian. He scored 45 runs from 28 balls against Pakistan Shaheens, proving his earlier knock was no fluke.
14 Saal Ke Ho, Kaise Maarte Ho Ye Chakke? - Aryan Bisht
Oman’s young players have been amazed by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive batting. Ahead of their clash with India A, Aryan Bisht said that he couldn’t believe a 14-year-old could hit long sixes with such ease.
“We’ve only seen Vaibhav Suryavanshi on TV, and now we’ll be playing against him. When you’re 14 and you’re able to hit the ball that far, that’s just exceptional talent,” said Aryan Bisht in an interview with TimesofIndia.com.
"It’s something not everybody can do — definitely something I couldn’t do at that age. 14 saal ke ho, kaise maarte ho ye chakke? [At 14, how are you smashing those sixes?] He’s really talented and very good, so I’m really looking forward to playing against him,” he added.
It’s a Great Opportunity to Meet Vaibhav Suryavanshi - Samay Shrivastava
Samay Shrivastava, who previously played for Madhya Pradesh before shifting abroad to pursue better cricketing opportunities, called the upcoming game a valuable chance to learn from the 14-year-old sensation. Shrivastava added that he wants to know Suryavanshi’s approach to cricket.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet him. I just want to know his mindset about cricket,” Shrivastava said. “He’s only 14 and he’s already doing so well for his cricket and for India. The way he hits those big sixes is extraordinary. I really want to meet him and talk to him.”
Shrivastava is yet to secure his first wicket of the tournament. The 34-year-old leg-spinner gave away only 26 runs in his four overs in the game against Pakistan A. However, he proved more expensive in the match against the UAE, conceding 35 runs in his four overs.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi Leading Run-Getter in Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has shown extraordinary power-hitting throughout the tournament, leaving even Oman’s young players amazed as they prepare for their biggest challenge of the competition.
The southpaw has scored 189 runs in two matches at an average of 94.50 and a strike rate of 270.00. He is currently the leading run-getter of the tournament. The opener will be next seen in action in the match against Oman at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium on November 18.
India, placed in Group B, are currently in second place on the points table with one win and one loss. The India A squad will have to recover quickly from their recent defeat and regain control of their campaign against Oman.
