Former India batter Ajay Jadeja recently revealed that he appealed to India's Chairman of Selectors, Ajit Agarkar, to try and include teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the Indian team as soon as possible.
Sooryavanshi has gotten everyone clamouring for his inclusion in the Indian team despite being just 15 years old. His heroics in IPL 2026 have won him fans worldwide, with everyone wondering how far he can go.
Jadeja spoke to reporters after the IPL final in Ahmedabad on Sunday, where the Royal Challengers Bengaluru defended their IPL title from last year.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in IPL 2026
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's explosiveness with the bat has been the greatest talking point of IPL 2026. Sooryavanshi almost single-handedly carried the Rajasthan Royals into Qualifier 2 and eventually a third-place finish.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made 776 runs at a strike rate of 237 and hit 72 sixes in IPL 2026. There were also 5 half-centuries and a century. He could have added to his centuries if not for getting dismissed in the 90s thrice.
The southpaw also produced arguably the innings of the season when he made 97 runs off just 29 balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator.
At the awards ceremony after the IPL final on Sunday, Sooryavanshi walked away with five different awards.
He was awarded the Orange Cap (most runs in the season), the Super Sixes Award (most sixes in the season), the Super Striker Award (highest strike rate in the season), the MVP award, and the Emerging Player Award.
"If you don't play him now, when will he play?" - Jadeja
Speaking to reporters after the match, Ajay Jadeja revealed that he met the Chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, and asked him to fast-track Vaibhav into the Indian team.
"What more can he do now? I found the Chairman, and I told him, " Sir, if you don't include him in the team now, when will you do it?" It doesn't matter what his age is; he is doing extremely well," Jadeja said when quizzed about Sooryavanshi's India prospects.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's cricket career
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's cricket career outside the IPL has mostly been limited to the Under-19 level, but he has still done things of note in senior men's cricket.
At the Under-19 level, he was crowned a World Cup winner earlier this year after his innings of 175 runs in 80 balls in the final demolished England.
In September 2024, he made the second-fastest century of all time in Youth Tests at just 13 years old with a 58-ball century against Australia.
In December 2025, he made a 36-ball century against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. On that day, he went on to make the fastest 150 in List-A history by getting to the milestone in 59 balls, and eventually ended with 190 runs off just 84 balls.
He also has the second and third-fastest centuries in IPL history.
