Veteran Indian National Cricket Team batter Ajinkya Rahane, who is playing for Leicestershire, came up with a magnificent performance with the bat in the ongoing County Championship game against Glamorgan. The match between the teams is taking place at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Ajinkya Rahane, who has been completely ignored by the India selectors, has been grinding hard in the County Championship. The veteran batter is making sure that he keeps himself in the reckoning for the Indian Test team, especially with Test season around the corner.

In the ongoing game against Glamorgan, Rahane came up with a sensational performance when his team was in trouble. The senior batter looked in good touch in the first innings but could manage only 42 runs. However, when his team needed him the most, he stood tall for the team.

In the second innings, Leicestershire were left tottering at 74/3 and were under pressure. It was then that Rahane came up with a vital hand for the team.

The right-hander soaked in all the pressure and, along with Peter Handscomb, added 183 runs partnership that brought their team back in the game.

Rahane oozed his class with the bat and racked up a sensational century that put his team in a decent position. The former captain of the India National Cricket Team scored 102 runs off 192 balls and also slammed 13 fours and 1 six in his innings, helping his team go past 250 runs.

This was his 40th FC Hundred, and he surely would have come under the notice of Indian selectors, especially with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy scheduled later this year. The right-hander played a huge role for the team in winning two back-to-back series down and even was the captain of the team when the team won the last series in Australia.

Ajinkya Rahane has been out of the Indian Team since West Indies tour 2023

After the Australia tour, Ajinkya Rahane's career witnessed a dip as he was dropped from the Indian team. But he kept grinding hard in the domestic circuit and was recalled into the team for the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023.

Ajinkya Rahane had a decent outing with the bat for India in the World Test Championship Final 2023 against Australia National Cricket Team.

He was the lone warrior for the team with the bat and bailed them out of trouble. Following that he was included in the team for the West Indies tour.

The batter played two games there, and after that, he was dropped from the Indian team. Rahane, since then, hasn't featured for India in any of the games. He wasn't named in the Duleep Trophy 2024 squads, which depicted that he isn't in contention for the Indian team selection.

Ajinkya Rahane has scored more than 13,000 runs in first-class cricket, at an average of 45.76. It remains to be seen what the future holds for him in Test cricket for the Indian team.
