The India vs Sri Lanka 2-match Test series will mark Rahane's debut as a commentator. On Wednesday, August 12, the 38-year-old, in his official statement, spoke about his upcoming stint in the commentary box.
The first match of the series will start on August 15 in Galle, followed by the second match in Colombo. In both of the matches, Ajinkya Rahane will be with the broadcaster team to add value with the mic in hand.
"I'm excited to make my Test commentary debut for India's tour of Sri Lanka on the Sony Sports Network and Sony LIV," Rahane said in a statement.
"Test cricket is the pinnacle of our sport, and having represented India in the format for so many years, it is a privilege to now look at the game from a different perspective," he added.
Rahane was considered among the most technically sound batters in their generations who pursued an 18-year-long career before announcing his retirement from the India National Cricket Team.
Across 85 Test matches and 144 innings, the versatile batter scored 5077 runs with an average of 38.46, with 12 centuries and 26 half-centuries. In his brief spell as the Indian cricket team captain, he guided the team to a 2-1 victory against Australia.
