Recently retired India National Cricket Team batter Ajinkya Rahane believes that, more than anyone else, only the family could keep Vaibhav Sooryavanshi humble, as the upcoming few years can pave his path for the future.

Vaibhav is the most talked-about player among cricket fans this year because of his extraordinary batting skills. He looks more special because of his age, only 15. At this age, talent can be harmed by distractions. Therefore, Ajinkya Rahane asks Vaibhav’s family members to maintain a disciplined lifestyle for the teenage sensation.

During a discussion with Michael Vaughan, Alastair Cook, David Lloyd and Phil Tufnell, Rahane mentioned that at present, guidance is the main thing Vaibhav needs the most to keep his career on the right track.

Many experienced persons out there could help the emerging opener, but the best guide could be the family. So, Rahane urged the Sooryavanshi family to take care of Vaibhav properly so that he can stay focused on his career.

Family needs to understand what is important: Ajinkya Rahane

The former cricketer also mentioned that as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi remains under the radar, there will be a lot of travel, publicity, limelight, and fame. Fame is something which proved fatal for many talented cricketers in the past. But if the talent stays under proper guidance, then all of these possible hurdles can be surpassed easily.

“What he needs at the moment is the right guidance. Where would that come from? The first thing is that family is really important. The family needs to understand what is important to him. These days, you see a lot of planning, fame, travel, and many people around you. Family needs to be strong, tell him what is important, and then, in the next five years, 10 years down the line, keep him disciplined,” Ajinkya Rahane said on the ‘Stick to Cricket’ podcast.

IPL 2026 proved to be the blockbuster event for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as the left-handed opener scored 583 runs at an average of 41.64 and a strike rate of 232.27. These numbers are enough to provide a hint of how brutally Vaibhav smashed the bowlers in the league.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi breaks Sachin Tendulkar's record

After the stand-out IPL 2026 season, winning the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his debut for the India National Cricket Team against England, during Team India’s tour of the United Kingdom. Like his IPL debut in 2025, for the senior Indian cricket team too, he announced his arrival by smashing a six.

The batter from Bihar made his India debut at the age of only 15, breaking legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Vaibhav did not take too long to register a half-century for India in the T20I format.

At the age of only fifteen, the southpaw got his first half-century for the Men in Blue, against Zimbabwe. So far, in 6 T20Is, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has scored 193 runs, including a couple of half-centuries, with a strike rate of 189.21.
