However, according to a report by Revsportz, the KKR camp has confirmed that the veteran batter has recovered and is available for their upcoming clash.
The 36-year-old cricketer was hit on the hand while fielding at short cover, forcing him to leave the field. Sunil Narine stepped in as acting captain in the absence of Rahane. The KKR skipper was seen with a heavily bandaged hand and had to undergo stitches, which were anticipated to heal within a few days.

Ajinkya Rahane Skips Batting in Nets as KKR Trains at Eden Gardens
RevSportz confirmed that Ajinkya Rahane is available for selection. While Rahane didn't bat in the nets during the team's three-hour training session at Eden Gardens, he was seen discussing strategies with head coach Chandrakant Pandit and other support staff.
"He is available for selection for Sunday's game against the Rajasthan Royals — that's the news coming from the KKR camp. Although Ajinkya Rahane didn't bat in the nets today, the team trained at Eden Gardens for three hours. Rahane had discussions with head coach Chandrakant Pandit and the support staff. He checked his batting grip and everything, but perhaps he didn’t bat as a precaution."
Can KKR Still Qualify for the Playoffs in IPL 2025?
Kolkata Knight Riders have 9 points in the 2025 season. To secure a spot in the top four, KKR must win their remaining four games. Three wins out of the last four matches would make their qualification dependent on other teams' results and their net run-rate.
In their past five games, KKR has won two, lost two, and had one no-result. They defeated Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets and Delhi Capitals by 14 runs, but lost to Punjab Kings by 16 runs and Gujarat Titans by 39 runs.
KKR, placed seventh with four wins and five losses, must win all four remaining matches to guarantee a top-four finish. A loss would leave their playoff hopes reliant on other teams' performances.
