Young Indian fast bowler Mayank Yadav is set to miss the upcoming white-ball series against England, comprising five T20Is and three ODIs, due to a back injury. Mayank Yadav is still recovering from the injury sustained last year and is unlikely to regain fitness in time to be considered for the T20I squad.

Yadav made his international debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh in October 2024. However, he suffered another injury following the series. He missed the T20I series against South Africa in November, as well as domestic tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Mayank Yadav Unlikely to Be Fit for England Series, Reports Indicate

According to a report by The Times of India, Mayank Yadav is still recovering from a back injury and is unlikely to regain fitness in time for the T20I series against England.

The 22-year-old has not been included in Delhi's probable squad for their first match of the Ranji Trophy's second leg, starting on January 23 against Saurashtra. Yadav is expected to make his comeback during IPL 2025.

"He's suffering from a back injury and is unlikely to be fit for the England series. He hasn't even been named amongst the probables for Delhi's first Ranji match of the second leg against Saurashtra from January 23," a source in the BCCI told TOI.

Mayank Yadav has been recovering at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for the past few months. He last played a competitive match on October 12, 2023, in the third T20I against Bangladesh in Hyderabad.

The Delhi pacer made headlines in the IPL 2024 season while playing for the Lucknow Super Giants. The right-arm fast bowler consistently bowled at speeds over 150 kmph, including a top speed of 156.7 kmph. However, his impressive run was cut short after just four games due to abdominal soreness.

Indian Selectors Poised to Announce Squad for England T20I Series

The Indian selectors are expected to announce the squad for the five-match T20I series against England within the next couple of days.

The five-match T20I series will begin on January 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Chennai, Rajkot, and Pune will host the next three matches, with the final match taking place in Mumbai on February 2. Following the conclusion of the T20I series, the teams will play a three-match ODI series from February 6 to 12.
