Indian pace bowling options are very rare, and hence, for the limited number of quality speedsters from India, there has always been a very high demand in the IPL auction tables. Akash Deep, the pacer from Bengal, was also one of the most desirable picks in the 2026 IPL mini-auction.
The Indian pacer, who is yet to feature in a complete season with any franchise, has been seen as a massive weapon in the mini-auction. The Kolkata Knight Riders went all ends loose to bid a INR 1 crore for the medium pacer from Bengal. Akash Deep was released by the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of the mini-auction.

The Indian pacer, who has only represented India with the red ball, is a fine bowler with the white ball as well.
Though the 29-year-old pacer's campaigns have been hampered by frequent injuries, he continues to be of massive interest to the franchises. Having played in over 53 T20s, the Bengal pacer has 59 scalps to his name.
Akash Deep's IPL journey

His campaign with LSG was cut short midway due to injury concerns. He recently played for Bengal in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and paired alongside Mohammed Shami to pick 7 wickets in 5 games. The biggest positive for him was that he scored 67 runs at an average of 33.50 in the competition.
