India's star pacer in England, Akash Deep, sidelined after historic 10-wicket haul at Edgbaston. He is likely not to feature in the Duleep Trophy due to some undisclosed reasons, while the East Zone selection committee names a new replacement.

Indian pacer Akash Deep has achieved great heights as a pacer in recent times, after being a crucial part of the India bowling deck that defeated England at Edgbaston and then at The Kennington Oval. Akash Deep replaced Jasprit Bumrah for the second Test and picked up a much-deserved 10-wicket haul in the game.

He was the first Indian to do so since Chetan Sharma back in 1986. After winning that match for India, he played the Lord's Test, missed at Old Trafford due to groin issues, and returned to The Oval to pick the dangerous-looking Ben Duckett and Harry Brook in the first and second innings, respectively.

Akash Deep will not play the Duleep Trophy

As of now, the reports from PTI Cricket reporter Kushan Sarkar state that Indian pacer Akash Deep, who was picked by East Zone for their upcoming Duleep Trophy season, is set to miss the domestic tournament.

Akash Deep is a fast-medium bowler who plays for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and was paired alongside teammate Mohammed Shami for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. However, his snub has been confirmed due to another replacement being named.

Despite the confirmation of the non-participation, the actual reason for his absence is yet to be known, whether he has been advised to take rest by the CoE or he has decided such due to any other commitments.

East Zonal Committee announces Akash Deep's replacement

The Duleep Trophy, which will begin at the end of this month, marks the beginning of Indian cricket's domestic calendar this season. The trophy returns to its traditional zonal format, and hence, all the zones have formed respective committees to pick their squad.

Likely, the East Zone consists mainly of players from the Bengal State Team and the Assam State Team, while some others have also been picked from Jharkhand and other states.

The East Zone side will be led by wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan, who will be leading the side containing several fine players like Assam skipper Riyan Parag. After Akash's snub, Assam medium pacer Mukhtar Hussain has been picked by the East Zone as his replacement.

Indian star Akash bought a new car after returning from a successful series in England. Akash picked 13 wickets in 3 games, and one of his most startling contributions came with the bat in the second innings of the Oval Test.

He came in as a nightwatchman and smashed 66 runs off the bat while building on a 100+ run partnership alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, after a great series, he has now been drawn into legal trouble for driving his new Toyota Black Fortuner without an HSRP.

Due to this, his vehicle has been termed illegal by the UP Transport authorities, and a step has been taken against the car dealers concerned with the sale.
