Another day in the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026), and another player celebrates a moment with a piece of paper. On May 15, the Lucknow Super Giants pacer, Akash Singh, celebrated the dismissal of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, in style.
On the fifth ball of the fourth over of the first innings, the emerging left-arm pacer of LSG clinched the crucial wicket in the 59th match of the ongoing IPL 2026 season. Gaikwad had to go for 13 off 9. LSG caught a big fish in the net early in the clash at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
LSG's Akash Singh staged a slip celebration after dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad in the LSG vs CSK match in Lucknow
The LSG pacer took out a piece of paper from his pocket and celebrated the moment. CSK lost their first batter for only 31 runs, inside the power play. Before Akash Sharma, in this season, CSK’s Urvil Patel and Mumbai Indians’ Raghu Sharma similarly highlighted their respective celebrations, taking out a paper from their pocket.
It was a back-of-the-length delivery, around off. In the fast-paced format of the game, batters are often lured by these kinds of deliveries. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is well known for his technical abilities, also fell into the trap and threw his wicket. The CSK opener went for a pull shot but did not make the connection properly. The ball went towards the mid-on, where Nicholas Pooran was posted. Pooran pouched the ball comfortably.
Akash Singh dismisses Sanju Samson as well
Akash Singh has been on fire since the beginning of this match. Soon after clinching Ruturaj Gaikwad’s wicket, the young pacer claimed more wickets in short intervals. The in-form batters, Sanju Samson and Urvil Patel, also lost their guards against Akash Singh. The inclusion of Akash Singh in this match has turned into a surprising element.

It is worth noting that Akash is a former Chennai Super Kings bowler. He was with the Yellow brigade during the IPL 2023 season. He joined CSK after a brief stint with the Rajasthan Royals. For the CSK, the Rajasthan-born played 6 matches to claim 5 wickets for an economy rate of 9.89. Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, LSG secured the service of the pacer. It is his second season with the Lucknow Super Giants.
The LSG skipper informed about the changes
At the toss of the ongoing match, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant mentioned that they had made a few changes in their playing XIs. Along with Akash Singh, they have made two more changes in their playing combination.
"We are a team, we run on trust, and that is something we are looking forward to. I think a lot of like Akash is playing today. I think he's getting his first chance of the season... Abdul Samad and Mukul (Choudhary) also come in," Rishabh Pant informed.
