Australia wicketkeeper Alex Carey reminded Team India of their record low score in which they were shot out for just 36 during the Adelaide Test played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.

Carey's comments came just a few days ahead of the second Test between Australia and India at the Adelaide Oval, which will be a day-night Test once again just like the previous time. Since India does not have fond memories of playing with the pink ball in Australia, Alex Carey didn't spare a chance to take a dig at the tourists.

India even took a first-innings lead in that match, however, they just could not withstand the might of the Australian seamers during the second innings and lost the match by 8 wickets. Interestingly, Carey was not part of that team as Tim Paine was Australia's designated wicketkeeper and captain as well.

Alex Carey gives India a brutal reminder of Adelaide 2020

While speaking to the reporters days before the second Test of the ongoing Test series, Alex Carey reminded India of the brutal defeat and claimed that Australia have set plans for the opposition. He even joked that he did not attend the Adelaide 2020 Test match as it happened too quickly.

“There have been amazing days in cricketing history, but we won't go out there expecting to do it again. We have a process and plan, and we try to execute it regardless of what happens. I wasn't here for the Test match, but I missed that, it happened too quickly,” Carey told the reporters as they shared a laugh.

“We are excited, and we take a lot of confidence out of our record in the pink ball Test,” he added.

Australia in pink-ball Tests

Australia are the most successful team in pink-ball Tests so far. They have played 12 day-night Tests so far and won 11 out of them at a staggering win percentage of 91.67. Australia and India have played a pink-ball Test once before, in the infamous Adelaide Test, and Australia won the match by 8 wickets.

On the other hand, India are short on experience in terms of playing pink-ball Tests. The Men in Blue have played four pink-ball Tests so far and won three out of them. All of these victories have come at home.

Alex Carey doesn't consider Australia as favorite

Even with such a brilliant record in day-night Tests, Alex Carey doesn't consider Australia as favorite for Adelaide. However, he claimed that Australia are confident of making a comeback into the series and expects it to be a great Test match.

“I'm not sure. We are confident enough, and I'm sure India are confident from their win in Perth. It will be a great contest,” he said.

India stunned Australia by defeating them by 295 runs in Perth. It was a magnificent performance from the Men in Blue who were missing out on some of the key players but still went on to dominate a solid Australian team at their home conditions.

With four more Tests to be played, Australia will be looking to make a comeback. They will be expected to put up a better performance this time around in Adelaide and thus, will pose an even difficult challenge.
