Suryakumar Yadav, on Thursday (December 14), starred with the bat to help India thrash South Africa by 106 runs in the third and final T20I. Entering the game trailing 1-0 in the series, India needed a win in the final game to draw level, and their captain rose to the occasion.

The Men in Blue were in all sorts of trouble after being asked to bat first. Shubman Gill failed to get for the second game in a row and departed for just eight. Tilak Varma also failed to do well and was dismissed for a duck as India found themselves reeling at 29 for 2. However, from that point onward, Suryakumar Yadav stood firm, batting through till the final over and guiding India to an imposing total.

He shared a 112-run stand with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (60) to lay the foundation for the big total. The right-handed batsman went on to complete his century on the first ball of the 20th over before being dismissed on the very next ball. His 100-run knock came off 56 balls and was studded with seven fours and eight sixes. India finished their innings on 201 for 7.

In reply, South Africa were all out for 95 runs in less than 14 overs. The Proteas lost three wickets inside the powerplay and just could not recover after that. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were all out for 95. For India, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball, taking 5 for 17 runs.
