Bangladesh National Cricket Team pace-bowling coach Allan Donald is all set to step down from his role after the ongoing edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, according to the latest reports in Cricbuzz.

Allan Donald joined the Bangladesh coaching staff in March 2022 and his contract with the team expired after the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. However, his contract was extended due to the impressive progress of the Bangladesh pace-bowling unit. The Proteas legend’s contract was extended till the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.

The news of Allan Donald stepping down from his role comes a day after the BCB announced that they will seek an explanation from him for his remarks on Angelo Mathews’s timed-out dismissal.

Notably, Mathews became the first-ever player to be timed-out in the history of cricket after Shakib Al Hasan appealed for it during the clash between the teams and refused to withdraw his appeal. Speaking to CricBlog.net, about the incident, Donald said “it was disappointing to see” that kind of a dismissal and he found it “really difficult to watch that unfold”.

He will not carry on with us – BCB official on Allan Donald

A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official told Cricbuzz on Thursday that Donald has informed them about his decision to step down from his role after the team’s last game against Australia, on November 11.

“Yes, he (Donald) informed us that he will not carry on with us after this World Cup during the team meeting,” the official told Cricbuzz on Thursday.

Allan Donald himself told the same website that he is not worried about BCB seeking an explanation from him and is not interested in continuing as the bowling coach of the team.

“That’s all ok with me if they (BCB) seek an explanation. As far as I am concerned the explanation was in the news today!,” Donald told Cricbuzz adding that he is not interested in carrying on with the Bangladesh National Cricket Team after the ICC World Cup 2023.

There are also reports of the complete overhaul in the Bangladesh setup following the disastrous ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign in India. Notably, the Bangla Tigers have only won 2 out of 8 matches in the competition.
