Australian women's cricket parts ways with a legend as Alyssa Healy, one of the greatest ever in Women's International cricket and one of the finest wicket-keeper batters from Australia, makes her final appearance in international cricket at the WACA Ground in Perth.

Coming from a family that has devoted itself to Australian cricket, Alyssa Healy went on to be as big a name as her uncle Ian Healy, the great Australian wicket-keeper batsman. Healy, a wicket-keeper batsman, has ruled over Australian Women's cricket for the past 35-years of her career.

The 35-year-old veteran women's star made a shocking retirement revelation that took the entire cricket fraternity by shock. However, sudden and early call-offs are not new to Australian cricket; former Captain Meg Lanning had also made an equally surprising exit.

Alyssa Healy gets 'empress' treatment from Australian teammates

299 International appearance and a devotion for 16 years cannot be paid off with anything, but for the Australian captain, Alyssa Healy, her teammates did the best they could to honour her and make her aware of her immense value to the team and Australian cricket.

After Australia Women won the one-off Test match against India Women at the WACA ground in Perth, it was time for Alyssa Healy to step down and say goodbye to that cricket field, where she went on to be a woman from being a 19-year-old girl.

On her final day on the field, teammates Ellyse Perry and Ash Gardner, two of her oldest mates, carried her around on their shoulders over to her sign. Healy, too, looked overwhelmed by the loving gesture from her teammates.

35-year-old Healy takes a blinder on Final International appearance

Though 35 and playing her final game, Alyssa Healy did not let her determination for the game slip down even a tiny bit. She was Australia's best batter on show during the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 and was also the recent highest scorer against India in the three-match bilateral ODI series.

She retired from Women's ODIs with a mammoth 158 against India. Though she did not put the gloves on for her final Test match, she took a blinder of a catch in the slip cordon of Alana King's bowling. Her swiftness once again drew large-scale appreciation. It resulted in India losing their 9th wicket in the second innings in the form of Kashvee Gautam.

A Legend Retires: A glimpse of Healy's number for the Women in Yellow

Having made her debut back in 2010, Alyssa Healy slowly made a name for herself amid the Australian giants. Women's cricket will always remember her as one of their most explosive batters and the best to step in during big games of the ICC.

Having represented Australia Women in 126 WODIs and 162 WT20Is, Healy amassed 6831 runs with 9 international centuries. Her only disappointment would remain, missing out on a WTest century after 11 games. She also completed 172 catches and 103 stumpings in international cricket.

Throughout her 16-year-long journey with the Australian Women's team, she won two ICC Women's ODI World Cups and six ICC Women's T20 World Cups. They finished as the runners-up on only one occasion in 2016. She also has a gold medal in the 2022 Birmingham games.
