Ambati Rayudu goes crazy!! Alleges India won T20 World Cup 2024 by rigging it

Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, former cricketer turned commentator Ambati Rayudu recalls how the widening of the boundary helped India seal their fortunes in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 as Suryakumar Yadav pulled off a stunner out of thin air.
India won the ICC T20 World Cup back in 2024; this was their first ICC title, ending a gap of 11 years since they last won the ICC Champions Trophy back in 2013 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, the veteran skipper.
Rohit Sharma then became the second captain with multiple ICC trophies, as he also won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy with India.
However, the Rohit Sharma-led side's win in the World Cup T20 was not an easy affair, as it marked a moment where the Men in Blue looked much on the back foot and South Africa was easily driving home with just 30 runs needed in 30 balls, and their most destructive batters yet to arrive.
CSK star sends shockwaves—'Dethrones' India as World Champions ahead of Asia Cup 2025
In a recent interview, former CSK cricketer Ambati Rayudu, who has now turned to commentating after announcing his retirement, spoke about his experiences from the venue during the ICC tournament.
Shockingly, the former cricketer reveals that ropes were pulled back a little for the broadcaster's convenience, and just after the incident, David Miller launched Hardik for a straight hit, which was stunningly caught by Suryakumar Yadav.
"The broadcaster indirectly helped Surya with that catch; if the rope was inside, it was a clear six," Ambati Rayudu's statements implied.
He claimed that had the rope not been pulled back, the ball would have been already six. This seems a clear dig at the T20 World Cup triumph; the podcaster, however, turned things around, saying that this can be seen as God being in their favour.

Later he covered it up by saying God was with us. Is this guy indirectly taking a dig at India’s T20 World Cup win?Why has he been so salty in the last 1 year 🙁 pic.twitter.com/mWf67iaUHK
Suryakumar Yadav changed the course of the game with a stunning attempt
The match, which did not look in favour of the Men in Blue, finally led India to claim the ICC title, and the credit for it goes entirely to the stunning catch from Suryakumar Yadav. Maybe Virat Kohli was picked as the Player of the Match, and others questioned the decision, reflecting on the efforts of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.
However, if any player was the man of the match in that game, it was none other than Suryakumar Yadav. When everything looked to slip away, Jasprit Bumrah bowled two overs for just 6 runs and a wicket, while Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya got the breakthroughs from the other end.
David Miller's presence at the crease still threatened India's chances; however, when SKY made a huge amount of ground running to take Miller sharply at the boundary, popping the ball from the fence and then grabbing it neatly, this melted the hearts of millions of ICT fans, who were finally seeing their dream come true. The Men in Blue won the T20 World Cup after 17 years.
Suryakumar Yadav to lead in Asia Cup 2025
After the T20 World Cup concluded, former skipper Rohit Sharma, alongside Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, announced their retirement from the format, and Suryakumar Yadav was brought in as the new skipper of the side.
Just at the brink of the Asia Cup, a delayed recovery from the Sports Hernia surgery had trimmed Surya's chances of leading India in the Asia Cup 2025. Likely former candidate for captaincy Hardik Pandya and vice-captain Shubman Gill were considered to swap roles as India's T20I captain.
However, SKY led to a miraculous recovery and is back on the field, all set to lead India in the continental championship, his first major multi-team tournament.
